Bug reports can be left here for the Milky Way Screensaver and standalone application.

Hi Shane,

I looked at it but have to study first a bit to know what I am actually seeing.

Both worked (in a window and full screen). ESC-button quits the program at once (nice). The num-pad seems not to work.
And Ctrl -/+ to view less or more stars does not have any affect, to me though.
And when pressing F1 through F9 has all the same speed. What should be the fastest, F1 of F9?

I ran it on Windows7 64 bit ultimate.
Greetings from,
TJ

I fixed comments on some of the controls. It should make more sense now. Thank you for the heads up.

cool, been waiting for a screensaver app...

It doesn't work on my computer through, It launches brings up the initial screen and then just freezes

Any special trick I should know?

Running win7 64bit, i7 930, ati 5870
Doesn't come up with any errors or anything in the log files.
I'll be happy to assist you in anyway I can to resolve this.

I have moved the screenshot to the error post I made to make this page look abit neater.

I realize now that the demo will not run fast enough on many machines. It runs a bit choppy even on a Pentium I5 2.4ghz CPU. For those that have computers that are more than a few years old, I have posted an application that has a much faster demo that uses the same graphics engine. If either works, the screensaver should run smoothly on the same machine. Please leave a comment here if neither works.

See the first post of the original thread to download the second demo.

Both (window and full screen) work on my system Shane. i7 960 and should be fast enough.
However most of the control buttons do not work. Is that your intention?

The first one (wedge) works well too but still now difference in speed with F1 to F9.

Hi Shane,

This is for the cube test. In window or full screen.
1. butons 1,2 and 3 have no affect
2. shift tab does nothing
3. F1 trhrough F9 does not have any change in speed
4. + and - does not show more or less (stars in the wedge screen saver)
And how long I wait, I never get to see any cube. Not when pressing < or pressing > (for backwards and forewards like the wegde.

Hope you can do something with this information.

I am uploading a major bug-fix in the timer routine that may solve this and other problems for the platforms that are having issues. Let me know if it still has any problems.

Edit: fix is now uploaded

I was thinking about this a bit and I have a suggestion. There's some talk of the screensaver being expensive in terms of resources. My thoughts are that the screensaver probably should just have an accurate 'approximation' of what is going on. I don't think it needs to be technically accurate down to the wire. So long as it looks good and gives us an accurate idea of what is happening, perhaps in real time, or if that is too expensive what has happened within the last few hours that may be sufficient.
