I have updated 2 of my machines to SuSE11.0/64bit. Since then the WU's errors out at once. I have updated 2 of my machines to SuSE11.0/64bit. Since then the WU's errors out at once. This does not address your work units. I tried Suse 11 x64 on a gigabyte p35 board with an ATI 600 vid card and a dual core 4500. What a mess. Ubuntu has absolutely no problem with this config but Suse with Gnome is just awful. Why are you flirting with Suse? Voltron |

I'm flirting with suse since 6.4 and it works fine for me. And I'm using KDE. BTW, on a third machine it works fine. Harald |

Make sure your computer is running at spec, run memtest, and if possible uninstall boinc completely and do a clean reinstall of the client and manager. Based on your experience, I will have to give Suse 11 a second chance with KDE. Voltron |

Make sure your computer is running at spec, run memtest, and if possible uninstall boinc completely and do a clean reinstall of the client and manager. A clean reinstall of boinc has been first idea but it didn't change a thing. Both machines aren't oc and do not overheat. Memtest would have been my next step, though other projects are working fine, and mw did too with suse 10.3. I'll give word when I recieve the results of the memtest. And try out KDE3.5! 4.0 isn't stable yet. Harald |

It seems to be a problem with libc: kernel: astronomy_1.23_[12380]: segfault at 41ed5ff8 ip 7f4f28960239 sp 41ed6000 error 6 in libc-2.8.so[7f4f288ec000+14f000] |

Make sure your computer is running at spec, run memtest, and if possible uninstall boinc completely and do a clean reinstall of the client and manager. memtest did show no errors and I have got all the libraries: ldd projects/milkyway.cs.rpi.edu_milkyway/astronomy_1.23_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu linux-vdso.so.1 => (0x00007ffff67fe000) libm.so.6 => /lib64/libm.so.6 (0x00007f4cee25c000) libstdc++.so.6 => /usr/lib64/libstdc++.so.6 (0x00007f4cedf50000) libc.so.6 => /lib64/libc.so.6 (0x00007f4cedbf7000) libgcc_s.so.1 => /lib64/libgcc_s.so.1 (0x00007f4ced9e0000) libpthread.so.0 => /lib64/libpthread.so.0 (0x00007f4ced7c4000) libdl.so.2 => /lib64/libdl.so.2 (0x00007f4ced5c0000) /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x00007f4cee4b2000) |

By any chance are these the AMD mobile processors? One is the AMD mobile, yes. The other one is a Intel Core2Duo. Both worked fine with SuSE10.3. Harald |

And here I sit with exactly the same problem hoping that someone with a clue can help. :) Join Cruncher Junkies on MilkyWay! |

And here I sit with exactly the same problem hoping that someone with a clue can help. :) I have renamed the 32bit-version of astronomy to the 64bit version and it is running. The 32bit version is linked statically, and the 64bit version is linked dynamically. It should be recompiled to statically to avoid those problems. Harald |

And here I sit with exactly the same problem hoping that someone with a clue can help. :) I just wish I understood how to do that. Could you give me a little detail? I'm desperate to get back to MW. :) Join Cruncher Junkies on MilkyWay! |

You would need to install the 32-bit version of boinc to get it working atm. Harald |

For those that get a computation error on SuSE 11.0 etc ... here's a new app linked statically... http://calbe.dw70.de/milkyway/astronomy_1.24_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.tar.bz2 Hope that it helps and solves the issue. (use at own risk, as always) Join Support science! Joinc Team BOINC United now! |

For those that get a computation error on SuSE 11.0 etc ... Thank you Crunch3r, this application works (for me) with Suse 11.0 x86_64 (Intel Quad). ------------ Rechenaugust |

When this works, wouldn't it be better to make it the official app release for all other Milkyway participants who use Suse 11 now or in future to download it automatically? Member of BOINC@Heidelberg and ATA! My BOINCstats |

Working just fine here too. Can you tell us what the real problem was? and will it be included in the next update? Join Cruncher Junkies on MilkyWay! |

Can you tell us what the real problem was? The new app links the the "needed libs" statically, so the new app has more bytes (about ten times more) but is much more compatible for various Linux-Distros. ...and also it provides more information, so you can compare your results/computers with others... e.g.
