Me too with my R9 390. I saw this at PrimeGrid it may explain some things: "The problem is server is not handing task to new AMD GPUs. 280X is identified as Tahiti family and is working as 7950 did without app_info. (CAL AMD Radeon HD 7870/7950/7970/R9 280X series (Tahiti) 290X is identified as CAL Hawaii (4096MB), different family. And Fury Nano is yet another beast, CAL Fiji (4096MB) BOINC Client does recognize those GPUs but server can't send task to those GPUs...yet. There is a manual way to make it running via anonymous platform (using app_info.xml)." The MilkyWay Server software is OLD and needs updating, part of their funding campaign is to replace and update it, at which time it may recognize your gpu's. I have no idea how to do an app_info.xml file for that anymore. |

My 280x was working fine crunching Milkyway@home...that was until last week when it died :( :( Decided to buy a 390 but no no work to be done. Bugger. I'll crunch Einstein@home instead I guess. |

All newer cards need an app_info.xml to work with MW. Like this (Linux): You have to edit the file names and versions. <app_info> |

Oh is that all! lol. Far too advanced for me. Guess I'll wait for a new revision of BOINC. |

Oh is that all! lol. You could be waiting a LONG time then as it's NOT Boinc itself, it's the Server side of Boinc, and MilkyWay is WAAAY behind the curve. |

Oh is that all! lol. Well that's a shame because what I would need to do it too complex for me. |

I'm really keen to keep crunching MW@H. Is it possible for someone to put up instructions on how to manually crunch MW@H? I see the above instructions are for Linux. I use Win 7 64bit. I did see the instructions on another thread but can't find it now. Thank you! :) |

Hey guys, I will talk to Travis and see if we can update the BOINC version running on the server. I think I've done it once before, but it was about a year and a half ago so we will see if this new version will recognize your cards. Hopefully in the next couple weeks you will start seeing work units you can crunch. When the update is done, I will make a post in the News section about it. Sorry for the slow response. Jake W. |

But this is easy: The difference between Linux and Windows app_info.xml is only the file names and app versions. So adapt this file names in the xml, copy it in the project folder and restart the client. |
