Unfortunatly this card only gives you fan speed control with afterburner. Good enough. Dounloading 300 WU dose vary from 2-10 minutes. It takes a break every 2:30 hours, ok. I paid $200 canadian on kijiji. I estimate 180. watts, 600,000 credits a day, Even with 28 nm tecnology I think this is an eficeant card for this progect. There are very few fp64 cards avalable on a resonable budget. See you at the races. Thanks JPB |

I now have a xfx r9 280 runing in an amd a10 7700k. fp64 is 1:4 and it dose the wu. in about 43 seconds. (3 concurently) It is an easy card to control. It should helpout the progect. JPB |

Hi. I have an AMD firerpro w8100. I was not able to get Afterburner to work. After adjusting the sliders and pressing Apply button, the sliders always jump back regardless of the Settings (Unlocking voltage etc. in the Settings). Anyway I have modified the Bios by reducing GPU and RAM voltages to reduce Electric Power consumption. Thereby, the card actually isn't throttled down to about 500MHz and runs at 845MHz with lower Power consumption. Now it is 30% faster than a Radeon 7970 (Tahiti XT at 1000MHz). |

Hi My ID: 398315 runs three Tahiti XT (in 7970, 7990, 8990, R9 280x) GPUs at 1000MHz, RAM at only 150MHz, and avarage WU time is 32s (calculated from 6 WU run in parallell, 193s average for each WU). The complete PC uses less than 560W from the grid (245VAC at present). Testing a Firepro W8100, see other threaad, results in about 25s running at 845MHz. GPU voltage is as low as possible, on the limit of calculation error... |

The S9100 Pro accelerator with a dummy HDMI connected to it runs in w8100 mode for desktop compatibility and does a fantastic job in crunching. Although its product line is finished units floating around dirt cheap because its not really useful for anything than servers and even then not profitable for crypto but its a fine sweet spot for number crunching. Other firepro's are out there that are cheap too. I just might get some more in future grab them before I do people! |

Make shure you get one with a pf64 (double presision) rating of 1:2 to 1;5 for this project. Most fierpros are not in this catigory. Check at https://www.techpowerup.com/ I'm querius what you use for a cooling fan on your s9100? Thanks JP |

My S9100 Firepro won't go over 60 oC in summer because it has a massive noisy fan attached. SUNON MagLev KDE1209PTVX 90mm / 80mm x 25mm CPU Round Cooling Fan 12V 7.0W 4Pin Due to the heat output I cannot compromise on heat ventilation SUNON is server class 24/7 operation grade and I haven't had a 7 watt cooling fan before when I first turned it on it sounded like it was taking off lol. It draws too much power to be powered by my motherboard so I use a Molex adapter cable. I attached it to the end opposite the mounting bracket near the opening where the stock fan is supposed to go but cut the plastic with a hole saw and screwed it into the plastic cover. Where its proper fan is supposed to go, and where the screws hold the plastic cover, I sealed with electrical tape to keep a wind flow that exhausts over the PC PSU fan effectively drawing in and exhausting out of the PC Tower otherwise it can get just as hot as the GPU in no time. I have a more suitable PC tower I am planning to build with 2 Firepro's that won't rely on the PSU fan to vent out. An old Cooler Master Stacker :) |

The only diference is the s9100 has 12 gb memory and the w8100 has 8. The w8100 comes with a fan. (still sounds like a jet engine) I think are prices were simular. See you at the races jpb |

About 80 deg Celcius. I have set the Maximum in Bios to 80 deg. Then the fan runs at about 2000 rpm. |

I'm runing 65c at 3100 rpm (ambant 25c) 24/7 100%. Stock frequemcy. r9 280. For longevity I think your runing a bit hot! JPB |
