I don't think any of the users really know. my guess is either the server can't keep up or it is sending out work so fast it can't create new soon enough.
Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected?
If it makes sense, DON'T do it.

Hmmm...

Well, it's possible that her hosts are in paying back SAH LTD mode now that they seem to have gotten it back in one sock again.

<edit> That's not imply that the squeaky gears here today isn't having an effect. I guess I must be lucky so far this week, no turn downs yet (knock on wood). ;-)

Travis has said there is enough work being generated and availble on the servers, and I can see so from the server status. But maybe there is a problem with the servers - I've seen this once or twice;

2/25/2009 00:56:11||Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.

Or is he still taking the servers down briefly to work out what the problem is?

[edit] There it is again, no work;

2/25/2009 01:03:02|Milkyway@home|Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks

I don't know Lisa. It's a mystery...

Travis posted a query on the Projects list asking for suggestions as to why work is not issued when there is work queued. He was advised to turn on additional "switches" to collect more data on the issue. He posted a note in another thread indicating he has turned on that switch and now we wait ... :)

The good news is that I seem to be back in the swing again after a dry spell this afternoon when I could not get work for some time and others were happily munching away and the status pages said work was available.

I was getting the same thing until I hammered the server like a piratebay tracker. :D

Interesting that my home computers have all the work they need, but my work comps are struggling to get any work...even when the update button is hammered like a piratebay tracker!

This really gets in the way when I'm not at the computer :\

It ends up not getting work like 5 times in a row and deferring comms for an hour.
