I seem to loose my BOINC manager every now and then. I occassionally find a PC showing no BOINC manager, although task manager shows BOINC is running with the astronomy* tasks, and indeed on firing up (another) BOINC manager I can see everything running OK. Close downn BOINC manager (presumably a second instance) and task manger shows BOINC still running. Anyone else get this? |

Your not alone Ice, it seems to happen once in a while for me as well. Mars rules this confectionery war! |

When I manually shutdown BM then launch Windows Task Manager, the BM performance tab shows all the (in my case) CPUs still processing. This is confirmed in the Task Manager "processes" tab. I look through the TM Processes tab and shutdown boinc.exe and boinctray.exe. About 30 - 60 seconds after shutting them down all the project WUs stop processing. I don't know the relevance of this, but it does confirm things continue when they are apparently turned off. |

Glad it's not just me. (although I've only seen it once so far) I'm running manager version 6.6.12, and the SSE 4.1 optimized application. |

Sometimes same problem here. But there is another problem with "New" versions of Boinc manager. When "suspend" all active work , or "snooze" from taskbar - "time to completion" begin to rise. Consequences of that, is change of <duration_correction_factor> , and no new work download until get "normal" values for each project :( . |

Dunno why it might happen on a 'normal' rig, but I have seen it happen many times when one of my OCs gets a little too ambitious.......Boinc loses it's handle on the host.... A reboot and a little less OC takes care of it. I am the Kittyman. Please visit and give a Click for Seti City. |

6.6.14 is a buggy one...I mean more buggy than usual. There should be a quick fix, albeit only for Win x32 - http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boincmgr.090309.zip 2 years old BOINCView is still doing great job and is superior in many aspects comparing to Manager. A must have if you want to manager dozens of boxes and don§t want to fiddle whole days with Manager... BOINC Project specifications and hardware requirements |

Thought I was the only one.. That's the problem - it's disappeared from the applications tab in the Windows Task Manager, although the Propcesses tab shows all the seperate 'Image Names' still running, including boinc.exe There is nothing to maximize. Nothing to do but run BOINC Manager again. Then if you click 'File, exit' in BOINC Manager, BOINC is still running. |

Look in stderrgui.txt (I'm doing this from memory since I'm on a Linux box now) and see if there is a crash dump in there. Kathryn :o) The BOINC FAQ Service The Unofficial BOINC Wiki The Trac System More BOINC information than you can shake a stick of RAM at. |

6.6.14 is a buggy one...I mean more buggy than usual. BOINC Windows 6.4.6 was withdrawn due to a dodgy installer, I dunno if it had other issues. Yes try 6.4.7. |

6.6.14 is a buggy one...I mean more buggy than usual. I've finally turned on a PC with the 4850/Zalman fan, and am running under 6.4.7. After an hour, so far so good... |
