1) Message boards : Number crunching : Lack of communication (Message 4411)

The deadlines are really tooo short for slow computers.
The problem is not only the "run high priority"

On my Mac G4 1GHz the wu's need more than 48 hours as the wu are not optimized for Macintosh PPC and it's a older (slower) computer.

So I will have to cancel many wu's which can't meet the deadline. :(

In my opinion it would be better if there was a statement how to deal with wu's which can't meet the deadline.
Furthermore a little warning on the front site should be set.

Not every user can follow all threads, especially if taking part on many projects ;)

I know it's often a hard job to keep things running and not all projects can do such a good communication as for an example climate prediction does, but some more information and planning I would prefer.
So if changing things like the length of the wu, it may be better to do if the admin has time to manage the (unexpected) effects. - only as a hint ;)
2) Message boards : Number crunching : Increased WU Credit (Message 2824)

Thank you Dave and Travis,

I've got some new wu granted with 4.06,
which is in my opinion a fair amount in the middle.

Though the science and not credits should be the important target for crunching, it's a additional motivation (which sometimes is needed too, e.g. thinking of the electric bill ;)) so in my opinion a fair amount of credits should be given!

on the other hand ..
everytime there will be some people complaining about too little or to much credits granted, while it's depending on the machine the app's run and how good it's fitting and optimized on this.
It may be, a application running on an old Sempron gets more credits in relation to the cpu-velocity as on a new Xeon, - with different Project application contrawise.

I did run it on windows at vmware and did compare with other projects (I'm using macintosh).
here I got 4.06 (range 2.8-5.4) as a result if comparing with other projects (running on Linux with vmware)
if using OSX on ppc it also did fit nearly,
while on MacOSX Intel there is much work in optimization to be done if it should fit ;)

Let us know if 1.19 is running that much faster on the windows environment -- if so we might have to reduce credit awarded to keep it in line with other projects.

On mac-ppc i didn't see any difference,
on intel-mac it seems to have the credit-level of cpdn and APS.
so if reducing the credit, you should make the Macintosh-Application faster ;)
(for Linux I don't know at the moment).
5) Message boards : Number crunching : Website code issues (Message 648)

I got lot of error messages on this website as I changed my "other account info"
(though the changed values are saved)!

at the site "general preferences" I get a error message at top of the site too!

I don't know if it's temporary because of server problems or if it's new or known (I just attached to the project and didn't find similar description on the board).
But maybe it should be fixed ;)
