........ For multiple GPUs (I run two hosts with 3 58xx cards) the reference cooler that exhausts out of the back of the case wins over the V2 coolers and Vapour-X cards everytime where PCIe slots are immediately next to each other.

Unless you want the UD7 for something particular the best MoBo for 3 up is the Asus P6T in my experience. Cards that don't exhaust need slot seperation and better airflow to remove the heat that is effectively exhausted into the case.

....... TBH, it'll do just as well as th 'vanilla' 5870s - they clock quite well, certainly more than 25MHz. Of course, if you overclock at all your warrenty is technically void, but if I was overclocking, then I wouldn't be stopping at a 25MHz uplift. Personally, I wouldn't pay any extra for a card with this amount of 'OC' .... but that is just my $0.02 worth. You should see 200K/day from this card.

Well, good luck keeping the Beast fed; I have 3x 5870s in an i7 and it is difficult to keep it doing MW consistently given the small cache size .... works well on Collatz though (apart from the past few days).

Hmmm ....... the GFLOPS count is pretty much halfway between a 5850 @ 2088 GFLOPS and a 5870 @ 2720 GFLOPS. Good use of a single PCIe slot and (in the UK) makes good financial sense, but it'll be interesting to see how the card crunches.

Actually, having had the same problems, I'm pretty sure that with Collatz down over this weekend, a 'few' users have joined/returned...... I know I have an extra host on MW because I can't get Collatz WUs........

Don't think I'll be purchasing one anytime soon - I have had issues with 48X0x2 and 4890s don't seem to work for everyone. Time to watch & wait for the moment...... and don't forget the price gouging that is currently going on out there on these cards - currently in the UK a single 5870 costs more than 3 4870s! I'll wait until there are more available for sale and someone has got them working!

Post:
CCC 9.6 loads the card on both GPUs with MW WUs - albeit at a reduced frequency (507/500MHz)on the second GPU - which is odd. .DLL files copied & renamed.

More digging required.

Thanks CP - you have been a great help.
