1) Message boards : News : OpenCL for Nvidia available for testing (Message 44620)

Post:
If I remember correctly, you will need at least a 26x.00 driver to use the openCL app.

Upgrading the driver did the trick, you were right on this. I had a version beneath 260.x. Thanx for that hint!
The WUs are running fine now. :-)

Just tried to run that version on my GTX260.
But I only get WUs that error out immediately like this one.
Do I need something else for it to run?
3) Message boards : Number crunching : RSS Feed broken (Message 39101)

Strange... it's working for me. In both Safari and Firefox...

Maybe a version problem, I'm still using FF 3.5.9 because the newer version gave me conflicts.
But I'm normally not using FF as RSS feeder, I'm using the RSS-feed-program Alnera Feedbuster.
I guess since the new feed version was installed here I never got a news on the program again, and that's some months now, not sure how long really.

Can anybody fix the RSS feed please?
I already wondered why I didn't get news lately from the project, now when I go to http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/rss_main.php I only see a blank page.
Thanks in advance!

2 CPUs and 1 GPU - 1 GPU Application Runs and 1 CPU Application Runs

It depends on how strong the GPU-app uses a CPU, too.
Regarding GPUGrid and Collatz Conjecture, the CPU-utilization is almost 0%, so that you really have 2 CPU apps and 1 GPU app running!
The CUDA-Code over at AQUA however was bad, took too much CPU-time, and other apps were affected by that.

Made a donation with PayPal, no probs. ;-)

@some Admin:
Will there be a list of donators later or do we get donation crowns like on other projects? Would be nice... :-)

Is there a consensus on what nVidia cards would run the client, and the best bang for buck (like the HD4850 for ATI and MW).

Someone over at GPUGrid made a list about Credits per €, have a look here. :)

The missing GPU-resuming could be a problem with the client version, some of the newer ones have a bad bug with following:
Check if the "leave apps in memory" option is checked.
Uncheck it, that should immediateley resume the GPU-app!

I use version 6.3.21 and have this problem every time when I crunch GPUGrid with the activated memory-option.

Well lets see I spend 1200.00 US dollars for Vid Cards then DA puts up a new area called CUP on our Boinc daily stats page.

Did you read the first post of this thread?
It's not coming from David Anderson, it was an idea from Willy.
I wonder what should be bad on that, it's only another form of stats, you don't have to agree with it anyway if you don't like it.

Hehe, seems I misunderstood the news about that a bit.
I thought visualization in real-time would be a screensaver. ;-D
Now I see the diagrams in the first post are regularly updated, that's pretty cool also. :-)
I know there was another (rather old) thread asking the same, but how about a screensaver anyway, is it possible?

Edit:
Sorry, I forgot about the credit reduction. Wasn't 108 anymore.

Crap, it's still 108 per hour, what did I say...
Was really funny to see how the credits increased per every new WU I crunched.
Now I'm back on the limit of 108 credits/hour with this WU. :-)

Thanx for bringing it all back to working, Travis/Dave! :-)

WUs should be awarding around 30 credit each if you're not at the server imposed speed limit.

But I'm (and I'm sure the others too) using an optimised app on my X2. Shouldn't they hit the 108 Credits/hour limit? They did at least before the crash...

Edit:
Sorry, I forgot about the credit reduction. Wasn't 108 anymore.

It seems like the credits granted start low and increase to about normal (or pre-outage) levels after a few WUs are reported. At least now the results are staying up a little longer than the last couple of restarts so we can see them a little more easily.

Funny behaviour, here too.
First on my X2 was only about 19 credits/hour, the next one 23...
Wonder if it really increases again like this.

No "complaints" from me here anymore.

The favicon is set, that was the only thing I still waited for. ;-D

Rest is pretty well handled from the project staff in my eyes. :-)

That's really crazy. Now I wish I had an ATI card...
But:
Does this break the credit limit barrier of 108? Wonder if.
Otherwise it's only another method to crunch more WUs without getting more credits from it.
20) Message boards : Application Code Discussion : Recompiled Linux 32/64 apps (Message 9260)

Post:
How long is the stock app running?

Erm, sorry, I didn't try the 64-bit 0.16 stock app yet, I automatically thought your one would be faster... *shame-on-me* *rolleyes*

If it gives less credit, you might be running into the 108 credit barrier.

Erm, no, with that run time it gave me about 66 credits/hour (on an AMD X2 64 5200 with Suse 11 64-Bit). No limit reached, but it should normally...

What do mean by 'it's not worth the 64bit'?

Was no intended harm, I meant it that way that a 64-Bit app normally should be faster than a 32-Bit app.
And that is not the case. ;-)
I don't know how Crunch3r managed that but as he made his optimized app way earlier he made also a Linux one. Compared to his Windows app (5-6 minutes on my X2) it took then 4-5 minutes...
