I have the problem with all my computers - running Win7 64
error at about 55% progress with both 4850's and 5850's

I would like a computer like this one
http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/show_host_detail.php?hostid=243441

10000 cpu's that would be nice to help me fill my cache.

Are computers like that expensive?

one of my wu's is pending "Completed, validation inconclusive", and I'm waiting on this computer, that is how I found it.

All my GPU's are getting some "Completed, can't validate" and "Completed, marked as invalid". non of them are overclocked.
I'm not too bothered by all the Pendings as those should be OK in time but when wu's have 5 or 6 results all marked as invalid then I would hope that when the work on the validator is finished that it will check these results again.

I noticed that all the work was short WU's, and that put a load on the server that would have been like a denial of service attack.

If we were allowed to download more work, say 24 WU's per core and then denied any more work for the next 5 minutes instead of 1 minute, the servers would be spared all the fast machines asking for work every minute. I would guess that the servers can give out 5 WU's per request almost as easily as 1.

That should take a great load off the servers. I have my cache set to 0.02 days so I don't ask for work when there is no completed work.

The trouble then is that the CPU's can be run out of work on other projects.

What I find really impressive are the notices on the Collatz web site

Backlog Cleared/Database Server Upgraded
November 22, 20:38 CST
The validator/transitioner backlog has been cleared. The database has been migrated to the new server which should reduce the I/O strain that caused the backlog in the first place.

Vacation Time
November 12, 8:05 CST
For the next 10 days, there will be limited support and monitoring of the Collatz project while I am on vacation. I'll try and check it once or twice a day if Internet access is available.

So the day that Slicker is back from vacation (and a family funeral) is the day he configures a new server and migrates the database to it.

How long have we been waiting for this organisation to fit a few hard drives? I think this illustrates the commitment shown by people to taking their jackets off, rolling up their sleeves and doing some work that doesn’t involve their mouths.

Sorry if this seems a little harsh, and no blame to Travis who seems to be the only one to do anything here.

Rant mode off.

My computers don't need a power supply at the moment.
They are all switched off as there is no work to keep the ATI GPU's busy.
Saving electricity is good.
The CPU in the computer posting this message runs other projects as well as MW. MW resource share set at 1 and it still waits for work.

Why not change from 20 WU's per host to 5 or 10 WU's per core. Also if a WU is not returned in time then reduce the next batch by the number not returned or completed without errors. CPDN has this and many computers are reduced to only getting 1 WU each day (or at a time).
The duffers would then be restricted to only 1 WU on hold at any time after a couple of days.
