Posted 23 Nov 2008 by DeleteNull Post: <with or without cuts in the parameter file> ?? I have nothing changed (sources nor parameter files). The only changes i have made were in the "make.linux" file (pathes and some flags), that i could compile (statically) on my machine. So, only you can decide if we are "comparing them with or without cuts". I cannot calculate what "type of cut" will influence the validation of a result. |

Posted 23 Nov 2008 by DeleteNull Post: On my Linux box (OpenSuse 11.0 64bit) the WU's are running well with application: 1. milkyway_0.2_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu and 2. 18% faster with a self compiled version from the tar (no changes in the source code, only a few compiler flags set.) It seems that the new (test) WU's need about 2 times more cpu-time to complete than the "old" WU's with milksops application. |

milkyway v0.2 code release
(Message 6494)
Posted 23 Nov 2008 by DeleteNull Post: Got the code compiled, but just trying to play with compiler flags before touching source. However, I can't seem to get the app_info right for comparing to the existing application. What's the application name? astronomy, milkyway, or something else? <app_info> <app> <name>milkyway</name> </app> <file_info> <name>your_application_name</name> <executable/> </file_info> <app_version> <app_name>milkyway</app_name> <version_num>2</version_num> <file_ref> <file_name>your_application_name</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> </app_version> </app_info> |

Computation Error with SuSE11.0
(Message 3966)
Posted 30 Jun 2008 by DeleteNull Post: Can you tell us what the real problem was? The new app links the the "needed libs" statically, so the new app has more bytes (about ten times more) but is much more compatible for various Linux-Distros. ...and also it provides more information, so you can compare your results/computers with others... e.g.

Posted 16 Apr 2008 by DeleteNull Post: Hi, i have tried it (Suse 11.0, 64bit) with BOINC 5.10.45 and BOINC 6.1.15, but i always get an error message like this (system logs): segfault at xxxxxxxx ip xxxxxxxxxxxx sp xxxxxxxx error 6 in libc-2.7.so and BOINC reports: Output file gs_??? for task gs_??? absent. All my other projects (e.g. ABC, PrimeGrid) are running well. I think that i have to compile the astronomy_1.23 software for my system on my box, but where can i get the sources? |
