It depends on the apps at the project, and the capabilities of the cpu. Some projects have specially compiled 64 bit apps they seem to perform better than XP32 (for me). I run Ubuntu64(linux) and XP32, I prefer Ubuntu for crunching. But it took a while to get my head around it. Cant comment on comparison @ Milkyway because I dont do CPU WU here.

Computer now processing WU correctly
i7 920
boinc 6.10.58
GPU Radeon 4850

HOWEVER I was originally running
Anonymous Platform (ATI_GPU) version 2.0 by Gypsel installed Dec 2009
These always ran seemlessly

On reading the post about recent events I was expecting failures and to have to do some readjusting. To my surprise overnight ( Australia) the machine downloaded WU and appeared to be working seemlessly using the old 2.0 app. WU were reported as being sucessful on both boincview and boinc manager. I was puzzled and checked the website and discovered all the successful completions were reported as invalid.

**I reset the project... no change

**I detatched the project and re-attached and the computer reported new settings . However didnt send GPU work as ATI drivers were not useable

**I downloaded the latest Catalyst drivers and installed. After a restart
I now have the 0.57 app downloaded and reporting success

Timing for the old app/new app ~ 210s (old anonymous 2.0) 300s (new 0.57)

the 23 series is the only type failing.
Q9300
gt260
boinc 6.10.58
app ver MilkyWay@Home v0.50 (cuda_opencl)

I have aborted all 23 series
addendum : all 23 series fail !!!!

With apologies to DEVO ... (ah the eighties)
Whip it good - Werkstatt just dusted off the archives in the back of my head

When something's going wrong
You must kick it
Now whip it
into shape.
Shape it up
Get straight
go forward
move ahead
Try to detect it
it's not too late
to whip it
whip it good

When a good time turns around
you must kick it
You will never live it down
unless you kick it
No one gets away
until they kick it
I say kick it
kick it good
I say whip it
kick it good
crack that whip
give the past the slip

I am happy with the times but I have a fast comp currently No.5
The credit is good . The pressure on the server is reduced everyone gets a steady flow of work. The services that people like to take advantage of like credit reporting can be re-enabled and the purge time can be set at perhaps an hour or two now.. all in all a lot better regime. Please however consider the slower machines I know what that was like and still have a few connected.

6 units of GS_3720282 completed on Q9300 linux64 all between 148 and 150 min

same units P4_3.0 & UBUNTU32 ... boinc view estimates at 10.5 hours/ unit

looks like your new units run very long in comparison..

old units 151 sec for 3710182's
new unit 3720282 1% completed after 178 sec

178s x 100 17800 nearly 5 hours even allowing for a fast last 50 % thats 2.5 hours

that is an agressive change 2.5 hours for 4.06 credit be prepared for a loud whinge from all and sundry

Good Luck

the37370382 units have sped up makedly on the linux machines and slowed markedly on the Xp machines here?

It's 19.08 Western Australian Time here (UTC +8)

132 units completed without missing a beat. Maintaining the 20 unit allocation. including a linux headless commandline installation of UBUNTU 8.04.

Might have overcome the server problems!

Well done Travis !!

-- which means you'll be getting credit on a timely fashion and not losing out on any.

Looks like all pending is cleared but without credits being awarded. :(

I cleared out all the pending because the vast majority of these were gs_602 -- which would only error out anyways, so no one was going to be getting credit for them. I got the DB back to a clean slate, and now that it's constantly running cleanup daemons i think we should have smooth sailing from here on out.

All 3 computers XP and linux have downloaded gs_607 and gs_606 in batches of twenty and are processing

I got "one". :)

Me too, several actually but they dried up pretty quickly. :-(

Now they look like they may be back again.

I have processed about 50 since 6.30 this evening W Aust time (according to boincview) Only been distributed in twos and threes. Only 7 left on three computers. Seems to have dried up again .

Hmmm !!!
