the stream_fit_work_generator (milkyway ) seems also to merrily continue running which i'm assuming is separation since there is a separate set for nbody called nbody_work_generator (milkyway_nbody)

it certainly would be nice if someone from MW admin could post an update

this might be obvious but i will mention it anyway:
in most enterprise and or scientific environments servers are not bespoke consumer pc's
those are dedicated platforms, often configured in a specific way.
one physical server can and usually does run multiple components such as database engine, work generator or website frontend.
physically shutting down the system will bring it ALL down not just "not needed anymore" stuff.
and to bring offline certain modules which are interconnected to other subsystems like say a database is no trivial matter and must be done slowly and with precision to avoid data corruption, which is not a trivial matter especially if the admin team is small.
Bear in mind that a scientist using the data does NOT have to understand how the core BOINC server operates.

how much ram does the server have? is it possible things are falling apart after some time due to out-of-memory kill?

can confirm - as of 25.X.22 - regularly getting the error internet access ok ut project servers are unreachable from BOINC logs on the Milkyway@Home project
did some drive crash again?

native M - series binaries would have a great performance benefit over X86_64
The Einstein@Home project has created a native binary for Mac M1 devices and it runs WAY quicker than the same app but with the x86_64 binary (I've been watching over it explicitly to gauge any difference if any and it was huge in my mind!)
see here:
https://einsteinathome.org/apps.php
https://einsteinathome.org/content/native-apple-silicon-m1-app-available?page=6

Therefore I'm strongly encouraging MilkyWay@Home project maintainers to work towards Mac-Arm binaries as the intel macs are becoming steadily obsolete, and having native binaries would bring a great computational benefit i think

Next time you get one let it run for a couple of minutes then suspend MW for a slow count of 5 then restart it and see if the processing picks back up. SOMETIMES Boinc forgets what it is doing and stops using the gpu and instead tries to use the cpu to crunch with, the suspend/resume method sometimes brings it back to reality and the gpu kicks back in again.

Thanks for the reply.
I will be sure to try the described method

i'd like to report a serious bug with some strand of N-body simulation tasks:
some of them, namely all with "chisq_alt_" in their name show computation time estimate of over 800 hours, and get to about 10% after running 3 days straight, verification then shows as inconclusive on the website
here is example of 1 task
MilkyWay@Home N-Body Simulation 1.08
de_nbody_10k_chisq_alt_40913_1366886102_673146
computation size 624753000 GFLOP’s
it's estimated computation time was 799 hours, it seemed to be not progressing at all
i think there may be a bug related to that task series.
To milkyWay@Home team: please consider this as a bug report and please investigate the cause of this

Thanks in advance

Update: Five more workunits, all de_nbody_model1_1, and for a change all now completed, four of them already validated. Run time between 30 and 60 minutes. Still don't have a clue why some crash and others not.

ooh i'm running milkyway on MAC OS X 10.6.4 so maybe the sprint-times of nbody are cause of this instead of Windows?

well for me the new workunits go hell faster
normal unit works for 15-18 hours and the nbody just TWO hours to do-isn't it wieerd?
