3) Message boards : MilkyWay@home Science : GMLE and missin baryon search (Message 1136)
Posted 20 Dec 2007 by darkpella
Post:
Hi,

I read the eScience paper describing GMLE and noticed that there is another application of GMLE that has been developed, namely missing baryon search.

Is there any effort, or is any effort planned, to port this application too to BOINC?

Bye
darkpella

We'd like to port this application over to BOINC as well, maybe within the next semester sometime. It all depends on getting the right people to work on it :)

Great plan!

Thanks for replying and merry Xmas!

5) Questions and Answers : Windows : astronomy_1.07_windows_intelx86.exe failed (Message 662)
Posted 27 Nov 2007 by darkpella
Post:
Hi,

windows (Win XP SP2, running on a 2.53 GHz P4 machine w/ 2GB RAM, BONC CORE 5.10.20) told me that astronomy_1.07_windows_intelx86.exe crashed twice:

  • once on this WU, and BOINC Mgr says it completed calculation and uploaded results,
  • the second time on this WU, and BOINC Mgr says it ended with computation error.

Until now report for these results did not succeed due to a problem on Milkyway server (see transcript below).

6) Message boards : Number crunching : Problems downloading Stars and Volume files (Message 214)
Posted 8 Nov 2007 by darkpella
Post:
I may have spoken to soon on the other thread but, it still appears that the stars.txt and volume.txt files are hanging up on download. I know that during the night(~11:30pmCST) when I was on the website that the website locked up with too many concurrent connections. So maybe there is a problem with too many people trying to download the files at once.

Looks like I got the same problem now (didn't meet it with many other WUs my hosts downloaded earlier today

Here's BOINC's log:
