OK I'm GREEN HERE but I'm thinking I might want to try an Opti-App. I'm running BOINC 6.6.36 and know where to download the apps. now I've found much confusing info so...A little good direction would be helpful.
Thanks in advance.

Jim

First, you'll need CPU=Z to determine what Instruction Sets each PC can use. Once you've determined that, copy the appropriate executable and app_info.xml file to the MW Projects directory.

The Windows CPU download from www.zslip.com includes all of the different instruction set executables available, so you don't need multiple downloads, except for your Linux machine, you'll have to download the Linux apps for that one.

I'm not familiar with AMD processors, so I won't be much help there. But if I'm reading the Intel one correctly, I don't think there is one for it, but I could be wrong, it has been a while since I looked at what was available.

The Athlon 64 X2 supports SSE3, except for the Linux machine all machines including the Intel support SSE. The Linux machine only supports MMX. :)

The Intel machine is a Pentium 3 Coppermine

It says it's found the app_info.xml but not the executable referred by it. It then tries to download the executable from the server to no avail.

Extract the compressed file into the /boinc/data/projects/milkyway.cs.rpi.edu_milkyway/ directory.

I see you've got it going -- just a note, there are some interesting behaviors that some have observed with the 6.6.36 client. Currently for MW, even if you have a supported ATI GPU (38xx, 47xx - I think, 48xx), you do not need a 6.x client. If you have a supported nVidea CUDA card and are working with other projects (say GPUGrid for example), then you'd need the 6.x client -- personally, in that scenario, I've found the 6.4.5 client to be less of a pain to work with.
