I'll be updating the server daemons tonight with better result verification and updated particle swarm and genetic searches. There will probably be some downtime while I get everything up and running correctly. We've also been examining some issues we're having with our fitness calculation, so we'll be releasing a new application and its code to deal with that as well. It also seems we're having some excessive credit issues again so things are going to have to be tweaked (have fun flaming our forums :P).

I would say how can credits be too high when DA himself told you how to calculate them and that is how they are set. Or is seti lowering the bar again?
Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected?
If it makes sense, DON'T do it.

I quit SETI because they refused to fix problems in their own credit system.

<RANT ON>
(Allowing older clients to claim 0 credits denying other hosts their rightful credit just because the result was valid. They grant the lower of the claims. They should have to fix their own %%%% problems before they can say anything about others granting too much. Bets are the average there would go up a bit if they would inforce a minimum version.)
SETI, Dave Anderson and the rest of them can bite me! I was even a donor.

I would think that the halo heads are at it again.. You know the type with an rac of 12 and complaining that the credit system is too high.

QFT. I guess it's that time of the month and DA has to slash the credit of competing projects again.

Here we go again with the credit police getting their hands dirty and sticking it to all of us.. Does anyone feel like they're being shafted here?

On the bright side, it's good to hear that the fitness test is getting some scrutiny. What's all this about a "genetic test" however? I assure you that my results are free of any stray strands of genetic material. I practice safe computing. Honest. ;)

Or it could be a LifeCycle model that simultaneously applies genetic algorithms (GAs), particle swarm optimisation (PSOs), and stochastic hill climbing to create a generally well-performing search heuristics.

Perhaps DA is jealous about projects which have a higher proportion of uptime than SETI (that would be nearly EVERY other project).

How about not adjusting any credit award schema until AFTER CUDA support is in place?

May be related to the fact that MW is now producing ~49.8 million credits/day(76% of) where Seti is 65.6 mill. Certainly wouldn't want another project to beat Seti at its own game.

    Started a Genetic Search
    July 21, 2009
I'm testing a genetic search right now with the new verification. Let me know how things are working. Work should be flowing now

The above is a quote from the front page

Sorry Travis but there is NO work flowing at the moment and has not been for at least 2 hours.

Running out of work, can you help please and kick the work generator in the bum.

    Thanks
    Conan.

Genetic search is a different type of evolutionary algorithm. We were running them here awhile back (when WUs started with gs)

I'll do a writeup once the server is stable :)

I know, work generation has been bad the last couple hours because I've been trying to get things working :) I think I've got most of the random crashes stopped, so work should be feeding smoothly shortly *fingers crossed*

Genetic Search tasks are completing with no problems on my HD 3850. Completed tasks that have been able to upload when the server is working are validating correctly.

Yeah there shouldn't be any problems crunching the workunits. All the changes are on the server side :) The only issue is making sure the server keeps feeding them, lol.

First one crunched (CPU) and a credit drop of about 4 or 5 per cent. That about what you were aiming for Travis?
