Omg lol your guys are so lucky the electric bill was last year 1430 Euro and gas 1100 euro so thats a bit more then you guys pay btw current rate is 100 euro = 144 usd but netherlands is prolly one of the most expenssive countries on this because of the nice super taxes on it. I think the pc's eats about 55% of the bill on yearly basis. Its new, its relative fast... my new bicycle |

I've bought one of those power meters that you plug into a mains socket, that tells you the Volts, Amps, Watts, Frequency etc etc. Each P4 base unit on full crunching, with monitors off, takes 100 watts. Run a farm of 10 and you have 1000 watts or the equivalent of a 1KW, 1 bar electric fire on 24/7. What I need to do is dump the lot, buy 3 x i7's + 3 x 4870's and save loads of cash, quite a bit of the environment, and probably quadruple my output! |

I've never heard about taxes either... LoL Texas and several other states do not have a state income tax, but they get you on property and sales taxes. Calm Chaos Forum...Join Calm Chaos Now |

I've never heard about taxes either... LoL I'll stay in California, Texas is unknown to Me, I'd only live in one other state and that would be Arizona and only If I were rich as I like Pine Trees and Northern Arizona has plenty of them. :D |

I've never heard about taxes either... LoL You want pine trees, you go to Southern Oregon. Though there are a few up here in Northern Arizona, as long as you get east of Kingman. |

@ Chris S I had 3 i7s, with 4870s, and about quadruple your rac. Until the fourth arrived on Friday night... But don't talk about electricity usage - my computer room has a base load of just over 1.5kW. But in my defense I'll also mention the 2 penryns, the 3 Q6600s, all o/c'd, and the 2 laptops. Cheers, PeterV . |

If I tried to run the loads you guys have and would probably blow out the box for the unit (or the whole complex). I run two laptops at home (usually nights and weekends, during the day they are at the uni) and two C2D systems full time at uni. The share of the electricity bill that my wife and I pay is around $110 - $120AUD for 3 months. Of course that is going to go up by around 20% because of the rise in the billing rate. And there is not much more we can do to cut usage (unless we don't need lights, fridge, stove, washing machine etc)... Never surrender and never give up. In the darkest hour there is always hope. |

@Verstapp - Hiyah Peter! As I can afford it I'm equipping the 3 PCIe machines with 4850's and the next 2 fastest P4's with 3850 AGP cards. Then I'll shut all the rest down and sell them off. Simply no point in running 1.4 and 2.4 p4's on cpu only. I should end up with 5 pc's instead of 10 and 3 times my current RAC. And a lot less electric. Its alright for you millionaires with multiple i7's and 4870's, us mere mortals aren't in that league :-)) Don't drink water, that's the stuff that rusts pipes |

@Verstapp - Hiyah Peter! Yep, US mere Mortals, Uh huh, I'll be lucky to get a 2nd GTX295 sometime in Maybe 2010(after 3 months If I'm able do It, Just not right away), A price drop would be nice or maybe a used one If I can snag one then. |
