Well done on the prompt recovery, as a DBA I know the feeling when a database goes belly up.

I was fearing for the worst, but luckily labstaff was on top of their game today :)

Throw the labstaff a few extra kibble in the bowl this evening...

Great recovery...

Short here also. Yesterday had 16,981,359 and today 14,013,225 so far. Looks like it was about an even 3,000,000 loss. But that's the way it is, a tankard of Guinness will do.

Rerunning the stats did not fix it, I am -39,785. I guess, I am not on my own. Hopefully it will be fixed as that is a days work lost here.

Did you see that loss on one of the stat sites -- if so, they are likely to come back ok with a subsequent update.

I'm assuming that the 10K you seem to have lost was not simply part of a days credits (I figure I lost about 5K to 10K credits -- but that's out of a daily haul of 40K).

This is, after all, a project still characterized as in Alpha -- feels more like Beta to me -- more solid here than SETI which is in 'production' status.

Nearly all the BOINC projects have issues at one time or another. For me, in the past year, MilkyWay has been as solid as nearly any my other projects -- up there with POEM and Spinhenge, better than Einstein, Rosetta and Climate, and certainly better than SETI.

But folks certainly have a choice and if you are happier focusing on another BOINC project -- that's fine too.

For the second time, I've lost quite a bit of credits due to Milkyway's system problems, (14,000+ first time, 10,000* this time.) I've detached the Milkyway project, and may look into it again in a year or two to see if it has stabilized. I have volunteered my computer time, but expect it to be used wisely and effectively.

Let me know if this has fixed anything.

Nope, she still tells me to unload the dishwasher.

PS. Ya'll are cranky this morning, no coffee yet?

Tea keeps the crankys away for me. I have all my billions of credits back, thanks.

Boincstats should read the new numbers, (rather, the correct numbers) at its next update. I am hoping to see a day with 1,000,000 + credits.

I lost about 300 WU's but that is a whole heap better than 1 million already reported!

Good work guys, taking the boxes off of "SUSPEND" as soon as I can, but not getting WU's in most of them. (yet)

FYI as of this posting, my MW account page shows the correct credit total, but exported stats at BOINCStats and Free-DC both show (-)11623 credits (or -58%).

Absolutely marvelous recovery bearing in mind the figures that came out earlier leading one to fear the worst.

Well done everyone for the speed of the recovery, and what looks like a virtually complete update. Work seems to be flowing well also.

Boincstats still reads me at 65,000, But MW shows my 80,000. It hasn't shown up on Boincstats yet.

      Seems I lost over 9 billion ...

When do I get my 9 billion credits restored? :)

      JK

Good job on the quick recovery!

It gave me a chance to replace a ATI card that has been going out.

Well for me it wasn't all bad. I came down to the computer this morning and found that Windows update had done its thing automatically at 3 am and rebooted the computer. Of course I had start BOINC at startup unchecked so it was down. I could have sworn that I had the auto install turned off.

Anyway, it is better to happen the same morning rather than 2 different days! Auto install is now definitely off and start at Win startup is on!

I still don't have any MW stuff on BOINCStats, but I figure since it wiped my account completely it'll take until the next major update to sort itself on the stats sites. Good work on the quick recovery.

Hopefully boinc stats will update soon (i'm back after a much needed nap). Let me know if/when they update and if that reflects what your credit should be (minus the bit we lost this morning).
