Here is what I'm showing, like everyone else - been like this all night. Don't knock the dudes - they're trying... Think of the bright side, you're giving your GPU a break and your electricity might be a bit less this month.... 10/2/2009 2:24:17 AM Milkyway@home update requested by user 10/2/2009 2:24:18 AM Milkyway@home Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. 10/2/2009 2:24:18 AM Milkyway@home Reporting 24 completed tasks, requesting new tasks for GPU 10/2/2009 2:24:23 AM Milkyway@home Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks 10/2/2009 2:24:23 AM Milkyway@home Message from server: Project is temporarily shut down for maintenance |

People keep forgetting that this is still an Alpha project, not Beta and not mainstream, it's Alpha. So is Collatz for that matter, although at the moment it's a lot more stable than here. |

How do we tell? What makes it graduate to Beta and then to mainstream? To be honest I thought we would be considered at least Beta when we stopped running tests and started to actually run real work. ;-p |

Well Boincstats still lists Milkyway as an Alpha project. But you raise an interesting question young Bruce! How does a project "progress" from Alpha to Beta to mainstream? What are the milestones or parameters that are used? Does the project request an upgrade from Boinc, or does Boinc award that status automatically at some arbitary point? Has any project ever been "downgraded" so to speak? I think we should be told! :-)) Don't drink water, that's the stuff that rusts pipes |

Well, in all honesty to that; my join date was in Sept 2008, which puts my time on project almost 13 months. I think about the only project I've been on which would be called "alpha" so long, would be RALPH... From a pragmatic standpoint, I'd say that it had progressed beyond alpha (on the CPU processing); however the GPU processing component is new still, so.... As of the following day, it still shows up as down ;) |
