I like the project although i really would like to get at least the enough units to get my 2 x 4850 feeded, i really dont understand how you guys get so much units. And what i would like to know once in a while some information what is the result of the huge amount of data we processed. Basically we run a enormous super computer together which pumps more data out then many of those crays out there. Its new, its relative fast... my new bicycle |

We're pretty forthcoming with what we're doing with all your hard number crunching. I suggest you look at this post in the science forum: http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/forum_thread.php?id=902 Also, Heidi's support letter has more information: http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/forum_thread.php?id=1057 If you scroll down to the publications section on the main page, you can find our published articles involving our work here. I've also just finished submitting a paper to the escience 2009 conference ( http://www.escience2009.org/ ). In the next couple weeks I'll know if it was accepted or not, and if so I'll link that in the science forums and the publications section -- this paper contains our most recent computer science research with the project. |

'Grunching' is, of course, the GPU equivalent to CPU crunching. Grunching bad work units is considered grunging. me@rescam.org |

I'm glad that something is making good use of ATI cards, Folding@home was nice, until the nVidia app came and kicked the crap out of the ATI one... now that there's actual BOINC support for ATI, I think more projects will come to use it, since the average user with an ATI card can finally use them without too much extra hassle. |

Folding@home was nice, until the nVidia app came and kicked the crap out of the ATI one... MilkyWay@home was nice, until the nVidia app came and got the crap kicked out of it by the already in place ATI one :-) Bill |

Folding@home was nice, until the nVidia app came and kicked the crap out of the ATI one... ATI cards have faster double precision support than nVidia cards, so this was to be expected. :P |

Joverly Jubly for all this grunging. I am very pleased to be helping MW and I hope Travis's paper is accepted by the forum. It shows our work is getting used, which may be a bit further down the science path than our monster gorilla neighbour project. ;)) Go away, I was asleep |

Folding@home was nice, until the nVidia app came and kicked the crap out of the ATI one... Yup yup, thats why I'm glad to have my ATI parked here being used as it should! |

now that there's actual BOINC support for ATI, Did I miss something? Which version? Bryan |

now that there's actual BOINC support for ATI, The 6.10.0 test client has ATI support. :) It is, of course, still a test client, but it detected my 4850 on my one machine with no problems. As far as I know no projects are setup just yet to ottermagically toss out ATI clienst like the CUDA ones do. Hopefully soon! |

I just tried a little experiment on my ATI machine, I installed 6.10.0, changed the name of the ATI app to astronomy_0.20_ATI_x64f.exe and version # to 20 as well, I also added back in the CPU app just for the heck of it. I have my setting at 850 SETI and 150 MW, works just fine on my other 2 machines. With 6.10.0 it would not request work unless I suspended SETI completely. I think it has the same bug as Crunch3r's 6.6.20 version and was requesting work for my GPU from SETI as it kept asking for more work. Once I get the 24 units completed that I just downloaded I will go back to my normal 6.6.20 again as it still works just fine and I hope they get the scheduler bug fixed soon. |

I have done the math and worked out that my graphics card runs MilkyWay@home approximately 106 times faster than (the total output of) my quad core 9550 @3.4GHz. Grunching is therefore appealing. Howdy ! That is impressive when calculated (compared) that way. Thanks for posting that. Best regards, Bill |
