If it has the changes to fix the fractional gpu jobs, then you should be able to get this behaviour

but you need to modify the app_info.xml to make it work like that.

here's how it's done:

<app_info>
 <app>
 <name>milkyway</name>
 </app>
 <file_info>
  <name>astronomy_0.19_ATI_x64f.exe</name>
  <executable/>
 </file_info>
 <file_info>
  <name>brook.dll</name>
  <executable/>
 </file_info>
 <app_version>
  <app_name>milkyway</app_name>
  <version_num>19</version_num>
<max_ncpus>1.0</max_ncpus>
<avg_ncpus>0.05</avg_ncpus>
<coproc>
<type>ATI</type>
<count>0.25</count>
</coproc>
<flops>1.0e11</flops>
    <cmdline>n4</cmdline>
<file_ref>
   <file_name>astronomy_0.19_ATI_x64f.exe</file_name>
   <main_program/>
  </file_ref>
  <file_ref>
   <file_name>brook.dll</file_name>
  </file_ref>
 </app_version>
</app_info>

I tried it with your app_info file and it showed like your display but the MW wouldn't start. It went into "waiting to start" mode and I couldn't get it to kick off. Any ideas?

I've got Boinc 6.10.1 and 190.62(WHQL) installed and much to My surprise(XP x64), My GTX295 is crunching WUs in about 7 mins each, Looks like Gpugrid has to share the card now.

I'm liking 6.10.1

It is much better behaved than any of the later 6.x versions for running the ATI app. With a tweak to the app_info.xml file, the manager only starts tasks that are actually running, it seems to keep a good supply of work in cache and it plays well with another project. It's good to see things working smoothly again instead of having to be micro-managed.

I have the "server" set to no shut down GPU during use. Is there a local preference switch under Advanced Preferences in 6.10.0? I went back to 6.4.7 and that of course isn't an option there. If there is one in 6.10.0 then I probably missed it and that would be the problem.

UPDATE
I reinstalled it and it kicked off like it was supposed to so the problem is solved. It may have been the prefernce setting. Or maybe it just wanted to hassle me .... whatever I'm running now.
Thanks
Bryan

With a little editing I got my Quad running 6.10.1 and doing work requests fine now.

I changed a few things on Crunch3r's app info as I only want to run 3 at a time on my 4830 and I kept the .10 CPU share.

I also added a separate venue for my Quad and changed to resource share to the same setting as SETI.

Anyone having scheduling issues on 6.10.1?

I updated my 6.10.0 machines to it last night across the board and by this morning all my machines are idle on all projects. I'm just getting not requesting tasks.

Had to detach and re-attach to get work flowing.

I can't get any MW work on one host running 6.10.1 - see here;

Yes it would be appreciated by many if there was an additional MilkyWay application that offered greater support for Stream 1.4 based drivers when the newer ATI cards are released shortly.

Although older ATI cards work well with Catalyst 8.12 drivers without having to copy and rename files, there have been quite a few who have had trouble with more recent cards such as HD 4770 and HD 4890. Even though some have succeeded with workarounds for Windows XP or have switched to Vista or Windows 7 to enable them to work, some others either returned their newly purchased cards or have just given up in frustration.

I certainly can see that...I have a 4770 that I just can't seem to figure out! I will try the newest 6.10.1 tonight or tomorrow and see if that helps but I do not have high hopes right now.

The only forum posts that mention any details of a HD 4770 working correctly were with Windows 7 x64 and Catalyst 9.7. One person reported that combination was working well, another that it worked but crashed if Catalyst Control Centre, Windows Media Player or GPU-Z were opened and someone else said that it gave errors on all tasks.

Similar problem. It worked fine for 3 hours so I went to bed. Came down this morning and MW had been idle for 6 hours. I couldn't get it to request work so I reinstalled 6.4.7.

Sure was nice while it lasted though.

My 4770 is working on Win7 with a GTX-260 present as well.

I am not installing Catalyst but rather the 8.12 drivers which work. Installing Catalyst just does not work for me.

Yes 6.10.1 does look nice but the scheduler is severly broken. I was too rash in installing it and now I have 5 idle machines. Time to detach again and time the falloff period.

With my HD 4890 I tried installing a combination of 8.12 and 9.6 Win XP 64 drivers with the method explained by Larry256 but I couldn't get it to work. So I switched to Windows 7 64 and Catalyst 9.4.

I didn't think a HD 4770 would be recognised by the 8.12 drivers correctly without some kind of workaround, but you have done it. Are all the screen resolutions available? I thought I had successfully installed the mixture of 8.12 and 9.6 drivers on one of my attempts but I couldn't set the native 1920 x 1200 resolution of my screen, only lower resolutions were available.

Still working fine on my Quad, I have noticed that it might go idle for a couple of minutes after going through 24 units. Then it downloads another 24 and goes again.

Now that I have my app_info set correctly my DCF is falling down to where it should be instead of being up over 15 because of the more than 3 thinking they are running.

So... i was running the client for days now without an issue. All was fine till ~7.00 AM UTC. The clients on two machines didn't get any work from the project at all. Coincidence ?

Does anyone know when exactly this "Use GPUs for Computation? Note: If you plan on using a NVIDIA GPU please see this thread." popped up in the preference ?
