What about new people without luck of getting any work? In fact, I haven't received any work from sometime and the MW server said the following: 9/7/2009 7:55:53 PM Milkyway@home Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. 9/7/2009 7:55:53 PM Milkyway@home Requesting new tasks 9/7/2009 7:55:58 PM Milkyway@home Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks 9/7/2009 7:55:58 PM Milkyway@home Message from server: No work sent 9/7/2009 7:55:58 PM Milkyway@home Message from server: (won't finish in time) BOINC runs 94.4% of time, computation enabled 99.5% of that Maybe I am running too many projects. I've received about 500 points in the past month from MW while I have received ten times that from ClimatePrediction over the same time period. I'd like to do more for MW but the server won't send any work. Richard Cox |

Thanks Brian; by the way, what does it mean: "(won't finish in time) BOINC runs 94.4% of time, computation enabled 99.5% of that". Does BOINC believe the application will take longer to execute than needed? |

Thanks Brian; by the way, what does it mean: Boinc thinks you would have too much work to complete in the needed time. |

Thanks Brian; by the way, what does it mean: So I need a newer version of BOINC to make a better "estimate-to-complete"? |

Thanks Brian; by the way, what does it mean: Yes. When you find a version that all works great, you should leave it as long as possible - unless there is some huge benefit that other people have discovered in new versions. |

I was receiving exactly the same messages a few weeks ago. After backing up from BOINC 6.6.36 to 6.4.7 I started to get MilkyWay WUs again. The older BOINCs have their own problems if you are running multiple projects, like sometimes letting a project run completely out of work before requesting new work, but in the long run it keeps my CPUs busy. I read on another Forum that newer BOINCs, 6.10.x, seeem to have fixed all this, but I'll let somebody else sort out the bugs in these for a while before I change. |
