Message 30584 - Posted: 12 Sep 2009, 16:08:48 UTC - in response to Message 30583.

It is live now, I personally don't have any way to verify if it will work so please report any issues and include the BOINC version, Catalyst Version, Operating System, and what video card.

Edit: It will appear as version 19 and is only available for 32 bit Windows and uses version 0.19g SSE2 from Cluster Physik

Wish I had know about the 32-bit only before I reset all my milkyway settings on this computer. :/

Here is my system Info

9/11/2009 9:49:08 PM Local time is UTC -4 hours
9/11/2009 9:49:08 PM Can't load library nvcuda.dll
9/11/2009 9:49:08 PM ATI GPU 0: RV770 (CAL version 1.4.283, 1024MB, 1064GFLOPS)

My card is a PowerColor HD 4850
I'm using the Driver Version 8.612.0.0 from Catalyst 9.5 with the 3 files renamed.
I haved tried Catalyst 9.6 & 9.8 and went back to 9.5 both times.
I now see Catalyst 9.9 is available, for this test I'm planning on using
my current driver but would change it if it would be of any benefit to the test.

My question is do the 3 files need to be renamed for the test app.
Also should I run my other projects during the test.

Boinc ver. 6.10.4

I tried to update and nothing happen then I supended my other projects and tried again still nothing,

That's enough to PO the good humor man. Why wasn't this brought up earlier?

I guess I can put the app_info back into place then as I also run 64-bit.

There were no server side issues deploying the 32 bit Windows application therefore the 64 bit Windows application has also been deployed.

I should be ready to go, detached and reattached. There are no files in the Milkyway project folder and it keeps giving me the error message I have no Cuda card. 6.10.4 did detect my ATI 4850

I have CPU turned off in preferences and GPU turned on.

No joy here either. 6.10.4 asks for GPU work and gets nothing.

I'm assuming the server should be downloading the .19G app or do I have to go install it myself?

That doesn't look very promising... a 3 stream Wu done in 70.3 sec. @817Mhz...
Seems that it cannot compensate the credit cut..

No. The client should download the app from the server. However, it would have been wise to turn on the boinc clients debug flags to see what's going on...or not..

You need to create or edit a cc_config.xml file in the boinc data directory containing the following ( at least)..

<cc_config>
<log_flags>
<sched_ops>1</sched_ops>
<sched_op_debug>1</sched_op_debug>
<work_fetch_debug>1</work_fetch_
<rr_simulation>1</rr_simulation>
</log_flags>
</options>
</cc_config>

I tried again and after a detach all it wanted to send me was the CPU app.

I will stick with what works for the time being.

So it's pretty obvious that it doesn't request work for the ati at all and the server version is not the lastest (should be 611).

It could be that the ati work fetch is already in backoff mode since the server doesn't know about the ATIs at all.

Okay here is the log. I restarted BOINC and there is still nothing in the Milkway directory so it hasn't downloaded anything to work with.

For some reason it thinks the GPU is not idle (which it is)

I had the same results. ATI HD4850, boinc x64 6.10.4, Not sure exactly which Catalyst, was a Windows 7 beta, but the driver is v8.612.

For what it's worth, here's a snippet from my logs:

9/12/2009 10:50:37 AM Milkyway@home [wfd] CPU: fetch share 0.00 debt 0.00 backoff dt 25.26 int 60.00 (comm deferred)

If i'm reading this right, then the work fetch is in back off mode (won't request work for ati cuz the server doesn't know about ATI work) so it only tries getting work for the CPU...

Does DA know about this experiment and is he watching this ?
