I understand the server s/w has been updated to support the ATI gpu's being reported. It does over at Seti. Probably a question for Travis. Are there plans to update the server s/w here to also support the ATI gpus? If so, when? BOINC blog |

Ati gpus are already supported, so are cuda. Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |

Ati gpus are already supported, so are cuda. Only with the anonymous platform mechanism (app_info.xml). The server has already the latest ATI versions on it. What is still needed is an update to the latest release of the BOINC server software to automatically distribute the applications to capable hosts. |

so, the question would seam to be, when will that happen? When Travis can talk the network engineers into upgrading the software again, he has no access to the servers themselves. |

If you look at Your Account -> Your computers you will notice the GPU column is blank. On Seti it picks up ATI and Nvidia GPU's because the server s/w has been updated to store that information. As the guys above have said we await Travis talking the network engineers into putting the latest version on. The question is when that may be. I notice that GPUgrid is now showing the BOINC version with the computer details, on their site. It wasn't there 2 days ago so its a recent addition. BOINC blog |

It seems things have stagnated here lately. It would be nice to see some updates done for the project. Updating the server side BOINC code and producing a standard project application for ATI GPU's shouldn't be too difficult to accomplish. |

Updating the server side BOINC code and producing a standard project application for ATI GPU's shouldn't be too difficult to accomplish. The server side software upgrade has to be done by the individuals that manage the physical server that Milkyway@Home is hosted on, none of the Project Scientists have suffiecient priveleges to make that upgrade. I'll open up another communication channel with them in order to see if the ball can get rolling on the upgrade. As for the ATI application, it is already on BOINC but it has been disabled pending the server side upgrade. |
