As most of you have noticed, the Milkyway@home database crashed yesterday. It appears that the database managed to corrupt itself, then failed in a spectacular fashion. We are busy cleaning up the mess, and everything will be sorted out soon. A special thanks to the support staff for the server, as they managed to restore the database at 5am this morning. I agree that thanks are in order! :-) Don't drink water, that's the stuff that rusts pipes |

It appears that the database managed to corrupt itself, then failed in a spectacular fashion. I suppose someone has to say it. If a server and the systems running on it are evidencing problems and no measures are taken to rectify or maintain it, then this is bound to happen - crash bang whollop! Much has been said in recent days/weeks/months about such evidence, and no response has been made by administrators/moderators. So NO! It's not in order. |

This site is so damn slow I have to retry typing this post again!!! This Database is going to continue to crash until some changes are made! It just cant take the amount of traffic that it gets. I'll make it easier for them, 3 less computers contacting the server!!!! BYE-BYE |

I can't see bothering when the db crashes and credits are lost. I am going to hit 100,000 (3500 to go, ~60+ days) at rosetta and might crunch more here then if things are better. Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |

Not too many Canucks around here - don't leave me all alone :-) You don't want to really split ... I know that MW is slow on occassion - but hey, I noticed you are crunching over at Collatz; do you feel that that site is faster? Come on ... Barkeep, a round for the boys on me ... Cheers! |

Not enjoying the experience any more. Dont feel many projects give a damn about the crunchers, so I give what I get. I get no info, no response at all to any questions, they get no CPU cycles or GPU for that matter. So far most projects seem to communicate quite a lot for the first few months to a year then once THEY are happy we can all go screw! So I'm taking a break, maybe I'll return IF the projects start to wise up that there are people on the other end of the wire. |

This thread was intended to say a specific thankyou to the server support staff who turned out to repair the database at 5.30am in the morning. It was not meant to be used for Admin bashing or general beefing about the project. There are other threads for that if people wish to use them. I'll look in later on and if the general tone of this thread has continued, then I will ask for it to be locked. Don't drink water, that's the stuff that rusts pipes |

Yes, thanks to all! And to have done this by 5am, more than most would do.
