Hello,

I downloaded new BOINC ver 6.10.17 installed on my vista machine. Attached to project MW. Got new work. THen I found that optimized GPU app can be used. I downloaded ver 0.19f, installed as per readme file. Everything worked perfect.

Then I was going to vacation for a week. I basically cancelled all workunits for both MW and SETI. After I came back, SETI was getting new units but MW was not.
Here is what I did
1. I installed newest ver. of boinc
2. reset project.
All of this actions did not help. Still getting no work. Maybe I am missing something?
Also, when I check project directory - it is empty.
Here is log file from MW:

Call me crazy, but if you read the home page of the project, I think you'll get a clue (or twelve) as to the fun and games that you missed whilst away, as well as a basic timeline of the events of the last eight days or so. That should answer your questions.

The Project is down at present.

New hard drives being installed next week.

We are all waiting, patiently, for new WU's.

Cheers

Lets everyone start a new thread about how we are not getting and WU's.

Actually in all seriousness, it's good to see everyone keeping their good humour and indulging in friendly banter. With studies over and new hardware on order, new work is now when, not if, which is more than can be said for Collatz at the moment. You watch all your RAC's climb when it finally takes off here ! :-)

Please. One person administering Collatz keeps that project running so much better than MW ever has. Here the cache size has never been addressed, the server has never been upgraded to automatically run ATI cards even though CP and Slicker from Collatz have done all the legwork for them, almost daily outages and getting answers to questions on the forum is strictly user to user. Slicker had a vacation and a funeral and still tried to keep things running from off site at a time where all the normal MW users had crowded over there due to the problems here. Has that ever been done here even though there's a whole department to do it? Two weeks to replace a few hard drives. Should take a few hours. Don't get me wrong, I like this project. But saying it's better run than Collatz is bordering on insanity. I'll offer therapy at only $135/hour :-)

BTW, reality checks are on sale at only $99.95 (pre Black Friday savings).

Expect new work over at Collatz sometime this coming week when Slicker (who is a one person shop with NO university or other research support) returns from a well announced vacation. That Collatz was running for over half of Slicker's vacation (in part due to remote log efforts by him) is quite impressive.

The thing is, there is a fair chance that both MW and Collatz will be online and producing new work sometime this coming week.

One additional plus for Collatz -- not only does it provide longer work queues (many days versus many minutes), but the outstanding work will count when completed and reported.

OK people, I think I may have been misinterpreted here.

new work is now when, not if, which is more than can be said for Collatz at the moment.

That statement from me was meant to convey that we had some idea when we would get new work here at MW. But in contrast we didn't at that time, know when we might get new work from Collatz. It was not intended to be a comment upon the quality of administration of either project.

Thankyou BarryAZ and Beyond for updating us, and the news is good to hear.

Ah, a philosophical question. Go inside grasshopper...

BTW, there's also a Black Friday special on meditation lessons, just $49.95 :-)

Edit: I'm taking bets on which project will be back up first. I'll take Collatz for $200.

How many 'Collatz' are in stock? I would take one.

Nah.. Thats not a philosophical question. But a very important,
skilled question.. ;-) If I shall be checked, I would like to
know who or what I`ll be compaired to.. ;-)
The comparision object will be the primary cause for the outcome. Not me. Lol

Anyhow - It would probably take more than one hour to come to a conclusion.
It could be interesting... ;-D
