Please implement a process for deletion, initiated by the boinc server, of outdated (no longer needed) stars* files on the boinc clients to prevent the project directory from growing endlessly.

If you don't know how to do it you might ask your project admin colleagues over at Einstein. They always initiate a delete of files no longer needed in the boinc client directory from the server. This is kind a nice they have relatively big files, like here, stored there.

AH hahaha, with the 100+ GB of CPDN files sitting about, I would not even notice the extra stars files lol.

If you make a reset of a project with 6.10.45+, the project folder will be cleaned and all sticky marked files in the "client.xml" too.

I'll look into it, but like the above poster said if you can effectively do the same thing with a project reset it might not be worth the effort.

A project reset clears 'unused' files for the moment but I also have experienced that those files might be downloaded again after the next server contact (for example when asking for new work).

Lovely greetings, Cori

This happens to me when I delete the files or reset, most end up downloading again.
Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected?
If it makes sense, DON'T do it.

Einstein@Home has this sort of system in place; might be a good idea to ask them how they manage it so you don't have to figure it out on your own.
