I am going to do a test by adding in the
milkyway_0.20_windows_x86_64__ati13ati
&
brook64_ati.dll

files to my MW folder.

Of course I am going to NNW first and burn through the 24 on board first.

And that experiment failed, requests GPU units but receives none.

Put the app_info back in and immediately get 24 units.

I can confirm that Catalyst 9.12 works, I was able to complete several work units in a row, thanks to The Gas Giant for bringing this to my attention. Currently only the Windows 64 bit version will be available and I think it relies on Catalyst 9.7+ for Windows 7/Vista, and 9.12 for Windows XP users. If all goes well the Windows 32 bit version will also be deployed on BOINC.

It's good to hear that that XP driver bug has finally been fixed in v9.12. I had only tested through v9.10 before switching to Win7.

I tried switching from appinfo.xml to automatic download, but i dont get any WUs

I am using Win7 64 Bit with two ATI4770 cards and one Nvidia 8400.
One of the 4770s is my primary display card.
I looked at this Machine on the your computers page, but it shows only the nvidia card.

so there still seems to be something wrong.

I will switch back to appinfo for now, to continue crunching.

using
ati_0.20b_win32_SSE2.zip

Installed v9.12 (was v8.12) to get Collatz working and now MW trashes immediatly with:

Compute error

Computer ID	21507
Report deadline	11 Jan 2010 23:12:57 UTC

Yes. Do you remember the two different variants for the different driver versions? When upgrading from 8.12 to 9.12 you have to use the other variant. The exit code is just saying that the app can't load the correct dll (that is what changed between the driver versions).

You have to use this version (32bit SSE2, for Catalyst 9.2 and up).

Is there much benefit to going from CC 8.12/Amd version to 9.12/Ati version? I am using Boinc 6.10.18

If you don't game on that system, no. But I have seen that the newer drivers are faster at Collatz, though.

AFAIK, MW works just fine with this combo. I have BOINC 6.10.24, ATI 5870, Win7 64 bit, 9.11 drivers and just added the 3 optomized files to my MW folder (from the available web sites) and it fired up immediately. This was a new installation. My only difference is I'm running an AMD chip, which shouldn't matter.

No... I'd totally forgotten about that. Thanx much.

Except that we should all my now be using the wonderful new automagically-downloaded-from-the-server apps. :)

Finally got a work unit (had to detach and attach). Seems the system is a bit confused?

My 4850 seems to have been eaten by the green goblin. Also, 1.99 CPUs? Really?

Windows 7 64bit, boinc 6.10.18.

I detached and reattached my machine, but still no automatc WU download.
It seems the server sees only the Nvidia cards.

Did you check your profile to make sure the project is allowed to send ATI work?

I was hoping to get cuda work, so far it hasn't. May someone take a look at the project scheduler to see if it is confused?

ATI Work is allowed im my home settings, which are specifically set for this machine. So that is not the problem.
