After a few weeks of testing the deployment of the ATI application through BOINC it appears as most of the kinks have been worked out. Milkyway@Home would like to thank Cluster Physik for the development of the application and the many volunteers that assisted in reporting issues. Currently the application is available for Windows 32/64 bit and requires an ATI GPU with double precision capabilities. Milkyway@Home would also like to thank Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) for their generous donation of hardware. |

Congratulations to the project developers for releasing the ATI application through BOINC. Some contributors would very much appreciate if some final tweaking could be done:

Thank you for addressing these issues. The person who was requiring a v0.21 (ati13amd) variant and some others switched to Catalyst 9.12 and all reported stable operation, so it seems that v0.21 (ati13amd) is not needed. |

The person who was requiring a v0.21 (ati13amd) variant and some others switched to Catalyst 9.12 and all reported stable operation, so it seems that v0.21 (ati13amd) is not needed. There are/were probably a lot of people looking for an ati13amd version. Personally, I had 12 4850 endowed hosts running XP32 with catalyst 8.12. These hosts had been running MW as the main GPU project and Collatz as a backup. These were all dual/quad core CPUs and all CPUs were running Einstein. They had been running in a manageable fashion for months, all projects using AP. The server upgrades at MW destroyed that equilibrium :-). Having noticed a couple of reports that the 9.12 drivers were now working with XP, I bit the bullet and upgraded the drivers on all machines and removed AP for both MW and Collatz. All machines are now running sweetly again with a bit of micromanagement still needed to keep the CPUs well supplied. MW is crunching full speed (but only 1 concurrent task unfortunately) and Collatz only gets called if MW can't supply. So indeed, I'm also no longer looking for an ati13amd version. With the new Collatz version (2.09) I'm seeing about a 10-15% speedup on Collatz tasks, so that's an added bonus. I do miss those <cmdline> options though :-). Cheers, Gary. |
