At a guess, within one hour of the time that Dave is aware that the servers are in trouble. I suspect that clock has not started yet....

Any idea when server will be fixed?

AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHH!

You took the words from my mouth...

Just got the whole shebang running more or less stable after internet connectivity issues, router reflash, boinc going beserk and total reset of the home network... Oh yes, i forgot the power spike yesterday that made at least 2 UPSes tipping over (and down).

8 hours without work.. it would be sooo kind to allow bunkers of 400-500 WUs per Host (*3 Minutes computation time per WU @ Ati 4870).

Hahaha luxury. I run 1:45 per GPU x four GPU's. (5970's), So how many should I have stocked up?

One of the really bad things here when the server AND Dave go walkabout is that throngs of folks running high speed ATI and Cuda cards scramble en masse over to Collatz, inundating it with a major surge of activity.

Collatz is a much smaller resource project, though run with a level of attentiveness which ought to be a model for other projects that have significantly more resources.

Of course the issue is compounded by the ongoing lack of support for not only double precision GPU's, but also single precision GPU's. That's not on MW.

That being said, I REALLY WOULD LIKE TO SEE that Dave has become aware of the server problem which started over 12 hours ago here.

Strange thing is, the current outage started more than 5 hours *before* Travis made his latest news post.

It might be me, every time I start getting close to 50000/RAC the server crashes.

Same here ;(

I am hoping that the reason the feeder is down is because you are implementing new work.

Of course this came just as my new 5830 arrived and I wanted to put it in the computer.

I wanted to report all crunched work first though.

I wonder if those smaller WU caused a bit of server overload< especially if the number of people aborting longer WU started to increase...

One of the bad things about MW outages, especially unannounced and indeterminate length outages, is that folks who are primary MW GPU users shift for the indeterminate outage over to Collatz -- which, unlike MW, doesn't have the sort of institutional support that exists here. So MW outage surges over there cause loading problems for the only other ATI GPU project out there.

Since MW has nearly 10 times as many users, and a LOT of them are running high end ATI GPU's, when MW takes a dive, it often takes out a healthy Collatz simply with the user surge. It has done that again today.

WUs seem to flow again. But now I'm getting just pendings instead of credits. *LOL*

And just to cause added confusion, today's was an on-again, off-again outage - my 4870s ran out of work and idled, then got more, then ran out again, and finally all was good again.
Cheers,

PeterV
