We appear to have entered a period of relative stability, with some very nice fitness values on the front page (as far as I can tell). I don't mind, as it feels like with the code changes over we can finally get a lot of science done ;) But I'm still curious - what are we working on at the moment? What kind of phase is the project in?

Hi! As it turns out, we are actually making good scientific progress right now. I am in the process of writing out an update for the community - I hope to have it done soon.
The short story of what we are currently doing: We are currently studying and verifying some rather tricky areas of the galactic halo - locations where the Sag. Tidal Stream is near the edge of the data. Errors within the Sloan Digital Sky Survey get larger with distance, so more time, CPU cycles, and angles of attack are needed to pin down tidal streams that are further out.
The results thus far are good (more on that later), but also keeping me busy. :)

Cheers,
Matthew

P.S. Please see the John Vicker's sticky post for an overview of the project science, if you have not done so already.

Thanks for the quick response! It's good to hear we're doing well, although I suspected as much, and interesting to hear about the challenges you face. Looking forward to that community update :)

I'm working on it. :) I hope to have it written up by the weekend, but I am also buried in urgent work (including BOINC results). So - "no news is good news" as the saying goes. :)

Sorry, I am scrambling to fix some (non-BOINC) code right now; it's putting me a bit behind. I am planning on finishing the write up this week, however. Thank you for your patience!

any news on it?

I imagine it turned into this topic: Science Info and an Astronomy Presentation

Yep, my mistake for not mentioning it here. Thanks for pointing everyone in the right direction, Emanuel. :)
