Hi,

I have 2 computers each running one 5970.
One host receives 48 WUs, the other only 24.
Both cards are dedicated to MW.

Why doesn't both receive 48 WUs?

I guess one of your boxes has 4 cores and the other one 8?
The number of WUs we can download at once is defined by the number of cores: 6 WUs per core is the maximum set on the server side.
If those WUs are done you'll get the next bunch. :-)
Lovely greetings, Cori

D'oh! :-)

As I am in "GPU-land" and have also selected, and only receive GPU work, I hadn't considered that I still would be calculated by CPU :-( Veeeery logical...not....

Thanks for your clarification :-)

That is much better than only getting 6 each due to only having one GPU.
Why not run them on the CPU also, there are a lot of cycles not being used there.

Running MW on CPU is really a waste of electricity :-)

I'm used to Seti@Home, and they adhere to the Your account "Computing Settings" for BOINC. So if I have set "5 days" for the "Maintain enough work for an additional", Boinc will download WUs to maintain a cache for about 9 days. This ensures WUs also for most of the maintenance and downtimes that occur.

MW has instead configured all clients to query their servers extremely frequently instead, (some clients will query and download once a minute) and for a very low cache of WUs.

Which has led to the server crashing many times over the last 2 years.
Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected?
If it makes sense, DON'T do it.

I'm running 6.10.18 on an i7 that is getting only 4 MW CPU wu's at a time. I do not run MW on a GPU. Those 4 are crunched and then I get an other 4. Normally I get many more in a download which gives the machine a nice cushion to work against. This seems to be a fairly recent issue. Any idea what is causing this??
