I can assure you Blurf, If this user is allowed to get away with this, the message being sent is "Try and rort the system, IF you get caught, nothing much will happen". David---I'm curious if you read what I posted directly before this post? It is being stopped (hopefully) at the server level. I don't make the changes...Travis does, and I am in contact with him. We are working on the issue. |

Hi Blurf I agree with David on this one, just stopping the actions isn't enough. There should be a severe penalty for "SABATOGING" the MW project, at the very least a LARGE CREDIT REDUCTION for the offender, if not outright removal of ALL MW credits from the account. This should be treated with extreme prejudice to set an example. Just my opinion. |

Hi Blurf Right sure I'm focused on making sure that I'm stopping it on the server side. After the changes are through I'll worry about credit. My priority is the science we're doing here. After we have that working right I'll have time to worry about changing peoples credit. I will examine the situation and remove the credit of people who have been dishonestly getting it via scripts and bad applications. |

Hi Blurf On my responsibility if those people are forum posters they will also earn a lengthy ban from the forums as well. |

Travis and I have been discussing this. For those of you thinking you've found cheaters, please send me a PM with a link to examine. Credits are going to be reduced/eliminated for those we can prove cheated. |

Hi Blurf Certainly I read your post, I even quoted it. I appoligise for the haste, of my last post, and problems you may have had understanding it. My point is: While Travis is, correctly, focused on the science, is is my experience that most crunchers are more focused on credits. Given that focus, anything that does not involve a reduction in credits is a bit of a waste of time if the end result is to discourage crunchers from trying to fiddle the system. I like my 10% penalty idea, because it is easily understood, and easy to implement. It also think it would be a effective deterrence. Regards |

Travis and I have been discussing this. For those of you thinking you've found cheaters, please send me a PM with a link to examine. Well... you can start with the one mentioned here -> http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/forum_thread.php?id=1620&nowrap=true#37779 There's all you need, a NVIDIA 9600GSO with a rac of 400K/day. Remember to remove the credits from his team as well. Join Support science! Joinc Team BOINC United now! |

Several hosts have been confirmed as using the single precision program so far...they will be zero'ed out and credit removed from their team. Please continue to send examples by PM only. Thank You |

Several hosts have been confirmed as using the single precision program so far...they will be zero'ed out and credit removed from their team. I doubt that. At least from looking at the top200 i couldn't spot another one. Besides that, i hope that you base those assumption on looking at the results send back instead of the host info shown by boinc. There are a couple of host that i've seen that have a mixed setup (both nvidia/ati installed in the same machine, like i do). That doesn't mean that those are using sp apps on the cuda card... Several hosts have been confirmed as using the single precision program so far...they will be zero'ed out and credit removed from their team. Hmm. What am I missing? The host and the guy Crunch3r mentioned here already, still has the 25.8 million credits he got with the SP application. And he was definitely using such an unauthorized version: Name ps_13_3s_const_v3_2017988_1269275066_0 Workunit 79064373 Created 22 Mar 2010 16:24:30 UTC Sent 22 Mar 2010 16:25:44 UTC Received 22 Mar 2010 16:40:01 UTC Server state Over Outcome Success Client state Done Exit status 0 (0x0) Computer ID 111933 Report deadline 30 Mar 2010 16:25:44 UTC Run time 32.399468 CPU time 0.394939 stderr out <core_client_version>6.6.37</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <stderr_txt> called boinc_finish </stderr_txt> ]]> Validate state Valid Claimed credit 0.00375318292590795 Granted credit 213.762477 |

they will be zero'ed out and credit removed from their team I believe they will be zero'ed out is the key here, he didn't say they were zero'ed out ... STE\/E |

Several hosts have been confirmed as using the single precision program so far...they will be zero'ed out and credit removed from their team. Cluster---Travis is working on the science part right now. Eventually they will get zero'ed but not immediately. We're both in agreement it needs to be done but he's putting in an extensive amount of time on the Validator right now and that needs to come first. |

Are the results even valid? If they aren't then I think they should get zeroed out sooner than later to keep the science up to par. Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |

Again, Travis has chosen to finish working the validator first. Please allow us this patience and keep sending examples |

Lol, this must have been why I was flagged. To all wondering my increase: Sold my 4770's, as well as my 4870. Got a couple of 5850's. 5850's+2monitors+ccc10.3=disaster. Plus, these are new Sapphires (non reference)...so no quick flashy, no afterburner. I edited the BIOS, then flashed...hence all my mysterious clients (2 computers in reality). I've updated to .23 as they requested, and I've updated my team as well. Do catch the offenders, but please remember everyone (Calm down David, no need to threaten pulling funds, keep your donations to yourself) - this IS for science - so let Travis do what he needs. They will sort it out.. Don't freak out when the 470 shows up on my credit tomorrow either....... |

Don't freak out when the 470 shows up on my credit tomorrow either....... Why should anyone freak out, when you start using a cut down and artificially limited card (for double precision), which is probably not faster or even slower than a HD4770? I guess the performance on other projects (using SP or integers like Collatz) may be more interesting ;) |
