OK guys, I've been running M@H for some time now. I've dealt with the issues associated with using the ATi GPU, but I seem to have an issue I can't resolve. What setting should I change to stop the system from sending me the 0.19 CPU based packets? You can't set either the number of cores, on an SMP system, to zero, nor can you set the CPU usage time to zero. I don't want 0.19 CPU packages, so how do I stop them? |

Go into Project Preferences and uncheck "Use CPU" for your venue(Default, Home, etc) |

There is a processor usage tab, but no way to just deselect using the CPU. |

That is why his direction was to use the web page. You are instructing MW not to send you CPU work. |

Oh ****. My bad. Thanks for the help guys! No problem... we all misread, fat-finger, or make some other kind of mistake ... thankfully most of the fanatics seem to stay at SaH so innocent mistakes here are far less contentious ... |

Hi, i just got 7 0.19 WU's. I have definitely uncheckt 'use cpu'; boinc is ignoring that. Using boinc 6.10.50. Has anyone an idea? Alexander |

Upgrade your boinc version. "There is no limit to the amount of good a person can do if they do not care who gets credit for it." |

Have you done it for default, home, school and work preferences? |

For default. I have no specific settings for home etc. I will now upgrade my boinc client and check the behavior then. I will report the results in three or four days. |

Is anyone using the latest BOINC, 6.10.52, which is also officially released, I think, still using 6.10.43, x86 and X64. No problems on any of the 3 QUAD host's and a HP Pavillion LT(T2400 CPU{C2D} & 7400GT PCI-E x16). 1 x64,X9650 has 2xGTS250 and 1 Q6600 has a HD5770&HD4850, 1 Q6600 has 1 8500GT Only get GPU units, but use an CPU+GPU app. a 'anonymous'and run 2 WU's at 1 HD4850, the HD5770 is only useble at SETI-Bêta and Collatz C. Set WEB and/or local preferences to GPU only or CPU+GPU sometimes called CUDA 2.3 or ATI13ATI or install an ATI/AMD GPU(+CPU) app. Knight Who says Ni |

For default. I would make a set of preferences for home and ensure your computer is selected for home. I think I found that this might have overcome the same issue I observed a while ago - but my memory to the exact solution eludes me. I just know that I do not use default preferences and this might have been the reason. |

6.10.56 is the official release, I am running it on my 2 Windows machines. *I* think so... I have been running 6.10.56 since it was first published on the alpha list and I think a couple of my systems have not had BOINC stopped or the computer rebooted since then ... so, yes, I had had a couple of GPU stops even with 6.10.45 (and lots with other higher versions) and have not seen any show-stopper bugs in .56 ... a couple minor issues, one of which was fixed (cosmetic log error) and the other was a one time bug that because I could not return a log with the right debug on so far UCB has shown no interest (though I think that the log data I did provide should have been sufficient to isolate the problem with roll-over to NaN calculation results) Anyway, 6.10.56 is *MY* recommendation on both Windows and OS-X ... if you run anything ove 6.10.18 I suggest the move to .56 ... then again, who listens to me ... :) |

For default. Hi, yesterday i'v upgraded to 6.10.56. I think, it's a good idea to wait a couple of days before doing the next action; otherwise one can never say, which specific action solved the problem. But anyway, in a couple of days i will try your advise. Thanks a lot. Alexander |

Hi, it did not need a couple of days. Today i got 3 0.19WU's, i do not know why, because the server-page says 0 results ready to send. Anyway, i checked the settings for home aso. All non global settings had cpu enabled; i unchecked it. Lets see, what happens. |

This is weird i see this old thread and see mine getting cpu units also even though i set on the site no cpu use allowed I could bet that those WUs only show up in boinc manager as "CPU" WUs. In fact those are beeing processed using the GPU app. When one of those tasks starts you should take a look at the taskmanager. There you'll see what's really going on. That's what was going on here as well before i fixed it. Join Support science! Joinc Team BOINC United now! |

Your partially right lol as usual :D I had set these multi core machines as work not as default so i could control cpdn a bit better Now somehow it started 5 units at once so it those took a while since they where indeed running on the gpu. This machine is a quad with one ati 4850 I went to milkyway preferences and changed all possible options to no cpu use now after 38 minutes those units finished and after restart boinc all looks normal again :D Its new, its relative fast... my new bicycle |
