Hi, I'm using all sorts of fans aimed at the gpu fans to cool them but the ambient temps in the room mean that there just blowing hot air back in the box :( its a fairly big room with all the windows open in the house just now in Scotland theres not a breath of fresh air anywhere in fact i think the air coming in the windows is adding to the problem mid afternoon :( so is there anybody out there thats come up with some good ideas to try and cope with all this ambient heat best regards Ian ....Please Join team Scotland HERE |

Air conditioning! Seriously, temps here get into the 40's here during summer, and while uncomfortable for me, the boxes themselves run from the winter low to mid eightys to mid ninetys. I only used the aircon for a few really hot days. |

I have a HAF932 which is arguably the best case for keeping things cool. The draw back is that when you have the case backed against a wall some of the hot leaving the back of the case gets re-circulated back to the fan in the side of the case. To help overcome this I have place some old plastic containers with the side cut out over the rear fan exits to direct the hot air upwards and away from the case. This appears to have dropped the air temp in the case a degree or 2 (or 3). As David said, in Australia, we experience days with ambient temperatures in the 40°C+ range - for which I definitely have my AC going to keep the house at no more than 30°C inside. In winter I have a heater going so the room temp is around 21°C. This difference is what the computer temperatures move through, ie CPU at 55°C in winter will be 64°C in summer etc. So for you in Scotland - other than getting an AC installed to use on those 4 days a year when the temperature gets above 30°C, I wouldn't have thought you'd have to worry about it. ;p I'd suggest just trying to direct the hot air discharge from your computer(s) upwards and away from the case. |
