Hey guys, my name is Brian Chitester and I've just joined the Milkyway@home research team at RPI for the summer! One thing that I am working on is redesigning the project website. So far I've be focusing on organizational tweaks but I wanted to see what you, the users, would like to see more (or less) of on the site. Any suggestions are welcome, I look forward to hearing your thoughts! |

Welcome Brian! It would be great to get some sort of blog from the astronomers / science team reviewing the data. |

I would like to see dynamic tables of fitness values updated every twenty minutes like in Einstein@Home. The twenty minute update isn't important; but dynamic fitness value tables would be awesome. What i mean is that as the user moves mouse within the values of "individuals analyzed", the "fitness values" in y-axis change accordingly. |

Can you put the "Your account" link just under the "Message boards (forums)" link on the Home page. It'd be nice not to have to scroll down the page a little to get to it. |

Here's a screen shot of the new main page, it will be online soon. I still need to do a bit of testing on the server side to make sure everything works nicely. Let me know what you guys think so I can make changes before it gets finalized: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/30409/milkyway_ss.png |

Looks OK to me. How about a link on there to the latest Boinc Manager download? Don't drink water, that's the stuff that rusts pipes |

This looks like a "clean" site Brian. I like it a lot. Greetings from, TJ |

OK, one last suggestion how about a box with the top 5 teams in it showing work done? Don't drink water, that's the stuff that rusts pipes |

OK, one last suggestion how about a box with the top 5 teams in it showing work done? Please don't. Crunching should not be about the competition for numbers. Although I acknowledge that teams do contribute a great deal to get new project off the ground, they should not be given such a prominent position. In the long run individual interest in a project is what makes it successful, not catering to the more fickle interest of number chasing individuals or teams as has been shown historically at Seti. Alright, the new site is online! I'm still working out a few minor bugs but, if anyone wants to take it for a test drive you can go to http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/index_new.php. Let me know if you guys see anything that's broken/weird. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated! |
