Hello, Does anyone know what happened with the nVidia GTX 295 graphics card? In the Netherlands and other online stores in Europe I cannot find this card anymore. If I want to stay with nVidia and 3D view I need this card as it is the fastest with double precision of nVidia. I know some ATI cards are better, but not supported by Einstein@home and GPUGRID. The newer ones 470-480 are less efficient and not as precise I read at crunching fora. Greetings from, TJ |

They were withdrawn from sale early this year by Nvidia who pretty much removed their entire top end products from the market. Up until Fermi release you would have expected to pay aroung £280-£300 for a 2nd hand model on ebay, but prices are begining to come down now. You won't be able to find them in any stores now, only 2nd hand Im afraid. There are two versions, the original dual PCB version, and the improved single PCB version. If you can, go for the single PCB version, as there have been issues with getting both gpu's to work on the dual PCB models - some cards work, some doont.. My primary project is seti and I sold my 295 and bought a GTX470 which seemed the way to go, very overclockable and I can run 3 tasks at the same time on 1 gpu - cant wait to crunch MW on it, but the app is not there yet :-( |
