Am new to Milkyway message boards so apologies if i have done anything incorrectly. ;-) I have 3 machines which are currently doing seti on cpu and gpu (nvidia), i would like to know the best way to set them up so i can do milkyway on the 3 cpu and let seti have the gpu time. I noticed i can resume project and pause project within boinc but if i run milkyway permanently i dont want to be building up a large amount of cpu tasks for seti as the wingmen wont be happy and it would be a waste. Any help/advice would be very much appreciated, i have the optimised apps for mway and look forward to your reccomendations. Thank You |

If you go into the project prefernces you can set what hardware the project is allowed to use. So you would want to set MW with the CPU enabled and Nvidia/ATI disabled. On Seti you would disable CPU and enable the Nvidia GPU. To set how many wu are cached then you go to BOINC and under the Advanced tab click on "preferences". Under that you find Network Usage and there you can setup the "additional work buffer" for the number of days you want to buffer. With the extremely poor reliability of Seti I would suggest you set it fairly high! That should do what you are trying to accomplish. . |
