Message 42453 - Posted: 29 Sep 2010, 22:28:48 UTC

Hello,

I am having some issues navigating the database, so this host will be banned soon:

http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/show_host_detail.php?hostid=119318

The other user:

http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/show_host_detail.php?hostid=111933

was mistakenly using the SP app back when it could slip by. He and I have agreed to reduce his total credit to something more fair, as he was unaware that he was being dishonest. Suggestions are welcome.

Cheers,
Matthew Newby

I would agree that what amount he did with the sp app should be taken away atleast. How could he not be aware that it is dishonest as well as giving false results? If he created the app then he should be punished harsher as it was definately intended to cheat the system.

On another note: Are any apps blocked by the system? At one point Travis was supposed to approve each app to make sure the results are valid. (I doubt that has held up, as being too much work or no one followed up on it).
Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected?
If it makes sense, DON'T do it.

That sounds only fair, cheating has to be punished severly, otherwise,
it all would become a mess.
I don't want that and I think nobody wants a Data Base of bogus information.

B.t.w. just changed a HD5770 for EAH5870, quite a difference, not only D.P. but
fast, too.
About 100 seconds GPU time.....

I keep looking at sea breeze who has moved from a boinc score of 57,533 on 18th september and in 199th place and now stands at 9,884,264 in 5th place and is top in Milkyway

perhaps I am too cynical thinking that this is not genuine

MW doesn't even let my 5770 play. BTW, I am still shaking out the bugs on my end and learning the ropes.

This has been taken care of, the server-side database says his credit is zero - I am guessing that it is taking its time to show up where you can see it.

It did take awhile to sort things out - there was some internal confusion, and then I had to fumble around in the database until I figured it out... but now I think things are running smoothly.

Sorry about the delay, but please cut me a little slack while I figure things out. :)

Cheers,
Matthew

Yeah, his account shows 0 credits now. Only thing left todo is remove the equal amount (27,635,131.00) from his team credits as well.
