Suddenly this evening MW began crunching only 1 NBody WU at a time, using only one core out of the 4 on my system.... This is not happening with my other projects -- they are using all four cores to crunch 4 different wu's... I have tried restarting BOINC, rebooting the computer and double check my preferences- all set to use all cores and MW still is only crunching one unit.... Anyone got a clue??? My system -- Mac Pro - 2xDual Core Xeon, OSX 10.5.8 BOINC 6.10.58 Doing my small part for scientific research |

Update -- I had forced boinc to switch to my other projects and suspended MW trying to figure out what was going on and make sure BOINC was still seeing all four cores on my system -- after I posted my original post I resumed MW and now everything is working normally -- MW is processing and all of my cores are now being used... dont know what happened but apparently its now "fixed" Doing my small part for scientific research |

Apparently my problem isn't fixed. After my other projects crunched for about an hour BOINC switched back to the N-Body WU that was giving me problems before. It has been processing for a couple of hours now all by itself. I did some more digging and in activity monitor it is bouncing around my four processor cores, using each core for about 5-10 seconds and then changing cores. This explains why nothing else is processing but this is not an acceptable situation. ( At least Aqua uses all four cores when it ties them up for its own use... lol ) I am going to let to be for the night and see what happens. The deadline for the unit isnt until the Oct 16th and the only wu's, in fact nothing has a deadline before this unit. Anyone have any idea what is going on???? Ok its been 6 hrs and MW is still crunching on just the one unit all night -- confirmed with activity monitor.... The unit is progressing but still... only thing crunching??? Doing my small part for scientific research |

I just noticed the same thing happening to my MacBook C2D, OS X 10.6.4, BOINC 6.10.58. Activity monitor tells me the nbody unit is using 185-190% of the CPU, and only one unit is running. C Team MacNN |

I used to be able to run 2 Milkyway at one time on the GPU using the parameter n2 in the app_info.xml. now it only runs 1 ..... Don't drink water, that's the stuff that rusts pipes |

I used to be able to run 2 Milkyway at one time on the GPU using the parameter n2 in the app_info.xml. now it only runs 1 ..... Instead of using the n2 parameter you can set <count> to 0.5 in your app_info. I use this on my pc when MW supplies me with wu's on a one by one basis and I have no cache. Alexander |

The OS X one currently has an mt version which will use as many processors as BOINC tells it to on a single workunit. |
