After all that trouble with the separation WU's on CPU right now, I suggest to only run the nbody simulation on the CPU until the problems are fixed. Knowing the nbody app isn't available for all systems yet, it will hopefully still help most of you cpu crunchers here. First exit BOINC and download the nbody app for your system (might already be in your mw project dir). http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/download/milkyway_nbody_0.07_windows_intelx86__sse2.exe http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/download/milkyway_nbody_0.07_windows_x86_64__sse2.exe http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/download/milkyway_nbody_0.07_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/download/milkyway_nbody_0.07_i686-pc-linux-gnu__sse2 http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/download/milkyway_nbody_0.07_x86_64-apple-darwin Than go to the mw projects directory and create a file app_info.xml. Copy the following into this file and replace the name of the exe with the one for your system (see name and file_name). <app_info> <app> <name>milkyway_nbody</name> <user_friendly_name>MilkyWay@Home nbody Simulation</user_friendly_name> </app> <file_info> <name>milkyway_nbody_0.07_windows_intelx86__sse2.exe</name> <executable/> </file_info> <app_version> <app_name>milkyway_nbody</app_name> <version_num>7</version_num> <file_ref> <file_name>milkyway_nbody_0.07_windows_intelx86__sse2.exe</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> </app_version> </app_info> Now your done. Start BOINC again and your system should now only run the nbody simulation on your cpu. If you want to run both apps (nbody and separation) later again, simply delete the app_info.xml and restart BOINC again; or detach and reattach the project. Corrections and additions welcome :) |

Hi, I managed to modify app_info.xml file to use Fermi CUDA (MW_0.24_CUDA.zip) modified by Crunch3r from http://www.arkayn.us/milkyway and MilkyWay@Home nbody Simulation together. If it helps somebody. :-) |
