So who is going to be the first to get one crunching MW or DNETC?

You?

Your credit card must have recovered from the HD5970?

LOL...it's only coming up to or just past 12 months! I might skip a generation and wait for the 7xxx series.

I would love to get one, but I think I'm holding out for the GTX 590. I'm pretty much down with AMD.

Getting 2 6950 then mod to 6970 is probably better.

Only had my 5970 for about 5 months, dont think I can justify a new card at this stage, especially as my 5970 wont fit into my spare case so I cant use it as part of a second computer. Would have to buy a whole new system.

The article below shows you how. It will void your warrenty, and its not risk free, so weigh off the real long benefits as you see them in your personal circumstances, and dont be swayed by jingoistic motivations that abound with this.

Does it work: "yes".

Can I screw up badly: "yes".

On balance should I risk it: "Pays your money, takes your choice as they say"

Unlocking a 6950

Regards
Zy

ATI/AMD's dual-GPU cards have only one crossfire connector, so no more than two can be combined without extra monitors or dummy plugs. Besides, I prefer coolers that recycle as little hot air as possible inside the case. So I guess I'll stick with single-GPU cards a while longer.
