Even though the Linux app has been improved it seems the Windows app now runs faster than Linux from the times given by various users from the computers they use.Just an observation when it comes to the credit side of the changes....of course a native 64bit Linux app may change my statement :)

I can assure you that tomorrow there'll be a new release fixing some issues as well as the "speeding tickets" you get now on windows...

Just give us some time to rest since today we've acomplished a great deal of work getting at least the windows apps working and 50% of the linux ones too..

So .. don't give up us... we know about the issues that need to be fixed and we will take care of that pretty pretty soon.

Thanks.

Was just running a new 1.19 wu and after 6 mins it hardly had 10% done. So it would approx needed ~60 mins to complete. I suspended my CPDN model running on the other core and the Milkyway WU finished the last 90% within 2 mins. CPU usage was normal @ 100% with 50/50 on both Apps.

CPU is AMD x2 4200+ @ stock
Boinc version number 5.10.20
Win XP SP 2

nvm this post, its a problm in the progress bar not showing the real progress. Must have hit the suspend button on the CPDN model around the moment when it starts to catch up on % :) The bar goes within 2 mins then from 10% to 100% in big steps

Let us know if 1.19 is running that much faster on the windows environment -- if so we might have to reduce credit awarded to keep it in line with other projects.

1.19 is running slightly slower (about 5%) than 1.18, 32bit XP. i.e. Still more than twice as fast as before.

So, credit is still way too high.

But rather than reduce the credit (which is OK), could we just have longer WUs? About 30 minutes to an hour would be nice :)

[Oh, progress bar is running at 10% of actual progress (not a big deal)]

Al.

At this point if the optimizations are done it looks like somewhere between 3-4 credits would be about right.

But you are basing that on crunch times having been reduced. What about those of us on platforms for which crunch time is unchanged from app 1.13?

Harry-I am somewhat in the same boat as you...most of my hosts run Linux and that platform only sped up 20-30%.

The reality in this world is they are going to try to level the credit based on the most used platform which is Windows and that platform sped up the most.

Same here. My 64bit Linux hosts claim a little over 4 for the current work units. If credit drops to 3, I will probably only keep my two 32bit windows boxes running here (that's not a "threat", it's just the reality as I perceive it)

Sorry that I havent read the whole thread, but imho, the granted credits are way too high atm...

Normally I get between 700 (Rosetta@Home) to 1200 (Opt. SETI@Home, ABC@Home) credits per day for my AMD X2 5200+ 2x 2.7GHz

Milkyway gives me 3255 credits per day!

And on my second host (P3 1GHz) it gives me 400 credits per day, normally this machine gets appr. 120-150 credits at most!

Its completely out of line compared to the other projects - to be in line, credits should be divided by 3 - then its still higher than the average! (or you need to increase the runtime times 3! ;)

Cheers, Shai
