Hi all,
i apologize for my english, i have an issue with boinc manager 6.10.60, in the transfer tab i don't see the status of tasks to download or upload.
Why this?
I haven't changed my cc_config.xml?

Thanks

Same with me, download and upload of MilkyWay tasks not shown in Tranfers tab. Also not shown in Messages tab/Event Log window, only reporting and getting new tasks.

I cannot explain it clearly but I think the new MilkyWay application just sends the "instructions" on how to process the parameters and stars files already in the MilkyWay directory and sends back the results when the task is reported.

I think Einstein@Home may use a similar system. So the only time you would see a download in Transfers or Messages tab/Event Log window is when a new stars or parameters file is downloaded or a new version of the application. Perhaps after some time you may see an instruction to delete one of the stars or parameters files in the MilkyWay directory once they are no longer needed.

So the "ingredients" for the tasks are already in the MilkyWay directory and it is only necessary to send the name of the task and the "recipe" of how to prepare the "meal" (task). Then your computer cooks the meal and just reports on the fitness of the flavour.

It's normal with the latest apps, since they don't pass WU input parameters or the results back to the project as a file any longer.

It's transfered in the cdata part of the report to the scheduler, and the reason why the older apps were deprecated.

HTH.

Thanks for the clearer, more accurate explanation.

That should reduce the load on the server quite a lot, all those files that are no longer being sent and received.

It's up to the individual projects on whether they want to use file based IO or not. SAH and Leiden, for example, are still using file transfers, and you should see them on the transfer tab if you look at the right time.

BTW, I forgot to mention earlier the input parameters get passed to the CC in the scheduler reply to a work fetch request.

OOPS, scratch that last part. The parameters are still passed as a file, but the transfer is happening so fast right now it's hard to catch it on the transfer tab! ;-)

I understood that it isn't an issue of boinc and for now i'll not change the cc_config file.

Thanks for all
