Weekend works for me. That way I can babysit my main cruncher... Len---Travis (post doctoral) and Matt (grad) are students as well. They have other matters to tend to in terms of their own studies. MW doesn't have the financial resources to have someone babysitting the server 24/7. |

Weekend works for me. That way I can babysit my main cruncher... Yes, weekend is better, than I can babysit my 3G connection, that needs sometimes more babysitting than all my computers together. |

Everything fine here with my GPU's, and I have also teste the CPU' Units also, and they are working fine, and pays as expected. So weekend would be fine, I ve time for babysitting, (especialy my lame I-net connection) |

Weekend works for me. That way I can babysit my main cruncher... We have a slight problem with RPI's administration at the moment. They seem to like shutting down the air conditioning for the whole campus (including *facepalm* the server rooms), when it gets too hot (over 90 degrees F) so they can save some money. That's been the cause of the last two or so outages of the server. Not quite much we can do about that, unfortunately. |

Weekend works for me. That way I can babysit my main cruncher... I've actually accepted an assistant professorship at University of North Dakota, so I'm moving up the ranks. I move out in August. Of course that means even more other matters to attend to. :P But don't worry everyone, I'll still be working on MilkyWay@Home. :) |

I'm almost thinking it might not be a bad idea to have the double credit be 2 days for the GPUs, but a week for CPUs (since it takes so much longer for a CPU to return a result). That way people who happen to download WUs right before the double credit period for their CPUs still have a chance to get double credit for them. |

This is no problem, when everybody knows the exact time, and how long it takes. The new boinc Client can also recive messages. So this is another channel. So the crunchers have time to configure backup projects, etc. Its only a problem, when the project suddenly is down, and nobody know anything. (and you must read SETI forum to know whats going on). I think the Milkyway staff should reconsider how you make promises an how you stick to it. For example 'Milkyway screensaver coming soon' was posted 1 year ago and seams to never coming and the first 'double credit' was posted 17 days ago. Personally there is no big deal for me to have the 'screensaver' or the 'double credit' my point is that you should not make promises without a plan 'how' and 'when' you are going to fulfill it. If you have no idea of 'IF' or 'WHEN' it will be done the just dont make any promises. Also it would be nice if you post in the news here when you will shut down the server and a estimation of the time it will be down, so I have a chance to run other AMD\ATI projects like Folding@home while Mikyway is down. And hey:) I still think Milkyway@home is state of the art in BOINC I just think that it is sad that no other science project in BOINC by default can make use of the DP capability of the AMD\ATI cards. I hope that this was not too offensive for you Blurf ;) |

Wait until all user will have answered - will last only 500 years, I guess (Don't panic, Milkyway will still exist ;) ). The answer at the end will be 49/49/2% or 42, I would need to start a boinc-project to calculate it exactly. :) Most users here seem to crunch 24/7, if air condition is gracious. So, is that question really of any importance? Why not surprise us some day "Oh, yes, I don't want forget to tell you: Last month, at 2 (or more) really cold days, we have had double points days" (I'm not a 24/7-cruncher, but I don't will tell you more...) |

Im not a 24/7 MW cruncher too, BUT i would do it for these 2 days and the day before and after (when i know it) when double credit is available (Perhaps you too? :)). MW was so often down and im crunching MW on my gamingPC witch runs only some hours on Weekend (energy is so expensive here :( ), there was not much to do often the last weekends (but now it runs fine since a week or so!, ok the sheduler has sometimes problems?). I have only a low end 3850 for MW so i cant break any records on double days, thats not my intention :) DSKAG Austria Research Team: http://www.research.dskag.at |

Weekend works for me. That way I can babysit my main cruncher... Blurf, I know all that and was not trying to slap anyone. Only trying to point out that chances might be higher to fix a possible problem with the server quickly during the week. Personally I have more time to have an eye on my comp during the weekends too. How is the weather forecast? Stable temps w/o sudden heat wave? |

I should have the problem with a few of the nbody workunits awarding 0 credit fixed today. Are there any other significant problems in credit or with the applications? The sooner, the better. |

In June, please. (But I guess the needs of the many outweigh the vacation plans of the few.) |

Under the workunit screen it reports 0 credit, but under the task details credit is listed and I was given the said credit. Seems like it isn't reported to the Wu screen info. Don't know if it matters to anyone, just reporting it. Workunit 38943582 Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |

I've actually accepted an assistant professorship at University of North Dakota, so I'm moving up the ranks. I move out in August. Of course that means even more other matters to attend to. :P Congratulations Travis. That's the first step to become a full professor. I wish you all the best. Greetings from, TJ |

Where I live temperature will become 33°C on Monday and 35°C on Tuesday, so the 4 rigs will be off power to prevent excess heat. It is actually 28.7°C in my study so I am afraid that will become to warm to be in in the next two days. So no double credit for me then. However it would be more fair to start it random, as the outage started random as well. If it starts tomorrow I will miss it as a dedicated cruncher, but I don't care much as I am not a credit junkie, I only help the science I like or find usefull. Happy crunching you all. Greetings from, TJ |
