It's called the 'Post of Death' server subroutine..... :( Don't worry - I've figured it out. If Cori posts *AND* includes a picture of a cute kitten, we'll be OK. Seems to be some kind of 'dark force' that operates invisibly. I've not had time to extraplote this from forum postings across all 10 dimensions though. I got distracted by a cute kitten in the garden. Maybe Travis can factor CK (Cute Kitten) into the incomprehsible technobabble that passes for a GECCO paper. :) Al. |

I thought it was a rumor that people ran this project :) haha thanks guys. that's nice. i just took care of the assimilator backup and the server is generating new work again. it just freezes sometimes due to the older version of boinc we're using. so it's needs some assistance occasionally. this usually requires a kill of the boinc software and/or a reboot of the system and is a little bit time consuming. anywho, all should be good as of now. :) Dave Przybylo MilkyWay@home Developer Department of Computer Science Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute |

I've put Milkyway on suspension. After a few months of nursing, I gave up. The constant errors and suggestions that it was my job to field and look for answers just rankled too much. Finally, after many posts, messages, and days spent troubleshooting other peoples problems, I got one day of error-free processing. The server wouldn't accept the results. I'll save Milkyway for the one day a week that I'm doing system maintenance anyway. Other projects have a notice posted when there's a repeating problem. Some of them even solve it promptly. |
