Hi for the past week I have had a problem with getting the credits for the work done. Boinc is reporting work done and there is no errors as you can see below: Sun 16 Oct 2011 09:01:17 AM EDT Milkyway@home Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. Sun 16 Oct 2011 09:01:17 AM EDT Milkyway@home Reporting 1 completed tasks, requesting new tasks Sun 16 Oct 2011 09:01:29 AM EDT Milkyway@home Scheduler request completed: got 1 new tasks Sun 16 Oct 2011 09:17:02 AM EDT Milkyway@home Resuming task ps_separation_82_2s_mix1_1_3708058_1 using milkyway version 18 This has been the same for at least a week. credits haven't moved and my average has gone way down. I think this is a "Just me problem" as I had jobs on the computer when it crashed and I had to reinstall the OS. System: -Processor- Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 900 @ 2.20GHz -Memory- 2.96 gigs -OS- -Version- Kernel : Linux 2.6.35-22-generic (i686) Compiled : #33-Ubuntu SMP Sun Sep 19 20:34:50 UTC 2010 C Library : GNU C Library version 2.12.1 (stable) Default C Compiler : GNU C Compiler version 4.4.5 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.4.4-14ubuntu5) Distribution : Linux Mint 10 Julia Vesion of boinc: 6.10.58 milkyway version 18d-1 I am not really worried about the credits, but if the work isn't being used then that is a concern. Any help in this matter would great! dave |

milkyway version 18d-1 You are using and optimized app right? You should be using a stock app if you are, no others are supported now. Easiest was to switch back is to "reset" MW in Boinc. Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |

Did it reset (deleted MW info and redownload)? You are still showing using another app. MilkyWay@Home Anonymous platform (CPU) If you still have those tasks abort them and reset. Using any other app than MW's stock app will all be invalid and not give you any credit. Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |

Reset will not work if app_info.xml has root owner. Boinc doesn't have root privileges, so resetting the project doesn't delete app_info.xml. Stop boinc-client, manually delete app_info.xml, restart boinc-client and reset project. It's all. |

Is this Linux-specific? On Windows I do not see problems with using the optimised app. |

As far as I remember Travis saying that only the stock apps will get credit. I have not seen any opti apps posted since. Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |

The people using an app_info are mostly using the stock apps. The app_info is good for the eliminating the max time exceeded errors. |

Optimized or not isn't really the point here. Let's put it this way: The older apps v0.1* are receiving and sending data back in a different way than the actual apps. They are outdated many month now. The server expects for some time now that results are sent back in the way the actual apps are using; so he finds nothing he can validate from those old apps (no valid result = invalid). Can't remember if there is any clear text message like 'no result found' in the log in those cases. |
