Would you like to name the next great space telescope? Here's your chance: NASA is inviting members of the general public to suggest a new name for the Gamma-ray Large Area Space Telescope before it launches in mid-2008. FULL STORY

"Astronomers have spent decades trying to explain Venus' mysterious properties. Now one scientist thinks the planet's formation may explain all: Two huge, protoplanetary bodies collided head-on and merged to form our planetary neighbor, but obliterated nearly all water in the process."

I second the motion. ;) It could be called “General Space News” or something … I think other research into galactic structure and the stellar population of the Milky Way, as in the Violent Universe and Rogue Stars articles, may well be worthy of special notice, but planetary science, space exploration, cosmology & what not are scarcely relevant to the ostensible topic of this forum.

Forgive me for sharing...I will stop posting here and the forums will thus be a lot less "messed up".

Honestly, if you can't see constructive criticism for what it is..

Will do more clean up later.

Thanks.

The explosion of a star halfway across the universe was so huge it set a record for the most distant object that could be seen on Earth by the naked eye.

The aging star, in a previously unknown galaxy, exploded in a gamma ray burst 7.5 billion light years away, its light finally reaching Earth early Wednesday. The gamma rays were detected by NASA's Swift satellite at 2:12 a.m. "We'd never seen one before so bright and at such a distance," NASA's Neil Gehrels said. It was bright enough to be seen with the naked eye.

Hi,

Forgive me for sharing...I will stop posting here and the forums will thus be a lot less "messed up".

Unfortunately, Crunch3er (or "Wank3er" as he will be known from now on) is a total dickwad. Just add the cretin to your ignore list as I have done and never be troubled by the pathetic little nazi again...!

I for one appreciate your postings, if Wank3er has a problem with them then that's his problem, not your's! Keep on posting!

TTFN - Pete.

Ok sorry about this everyone. I'm sorry this was not clear so cruncher just thought he was doing his job. You can post anything you deem relevant to the project, things such as space missions like cassini and stuff are included. I apologize to you posters. But also, that wasn't very nice to call cruncher a wanker either, but i know you were ticked. Now, if you have any other issues you can PM me and i'll try to take care of it for you. Apologies to all.
