the work flow has dried up again...i probably should have elevated the thread last night when i first noticed it, but better late than never. i'd say its been down for a bit less than 12 hours now. as Mikey previously mentioned, its going to take a week or so to get the new server running smoothly, so i imagine that this is the reason for the outage.

Basically, Moowrap took over from when DNETC shutdown. I wouldn't say it was a waste of time, but perhaps not as scientific as other Boinc stuff, nor in the humanities like WCG, but I enjoy it in addition to the many other ptojects I am involved in.

like, but do not forget http://www.malariacontrol.net/

Please put yours cpus to do some good projects, some people
can benefit from humanitarian help.

What is malariacontrol.net?

The malariacontrol.net project is an application that makes use of network computing for stochastic modelling of the clinical epidemiology and natural history of Plasmodium falciparum malaria.

Which means...they are looking at which drugs work best for which patients in the cure and treatment of malaria. 17 different types of Malaria, meaning someone can be infected with 1, 10 or even all 17 type at various times of their lives. What works best for an infant may not work best for a kid or adult. What drugs works best for this or that type may not work at all for a combination of types! The days of just giving Quinine to everyone is over! ALSO we users HAVE made a difference in the way Malaria is treated, our results ARE being used in the field and on the ground! Nice Project choice Bymark!!!

well the n-body tasks never stopped flowing to begin with (can't confirm this b/c i don't crunch n-body tasks). but the separation tasks started flowing again nearly 48 hours ago, and my GPU has been crunching non-stop since then. perhaps you need to manually update your MW@H project in BOINC in order to get things rolling again? or perhaps restarting BOINC, or even your OS, might help?

ok, i just checked my MW@H host and found the GPU idling. if i had to guess, i'd say its been idle for ~30 minutes. at first i thought your problem might be host-related. but now that i'm also having trouble getting work (despite the fact that the server status page says everything is up and running), i'm starting to suspect that something's going on server side. after all, we know how the server status page can be quite misleading at times, and that goes for most projects, not just MW@H.

at any rate, i wouldn't read into too much at this point. remember, they started the migration to the new server a week ago and didn't expect everything to be done until yesterday or today...so realistically that probably means we shouldn't expect the outages to end for a few more days while they iron out the all the issues.

*EDIT* - just after i posted this, i started receiving MW@H separation tasks again...so i'm back up and running again. but i'm not expecting it to last for long given the current circumstances...my best advice would be to not read too deeply into any MW@H issues until someone informs the community via the news sub-forum that the server migration is successful AND complete.

I think your problem is something else, you got brand new units yesterday, the 4th, but every single one of them was 'abandoned'. Here is a link to your units:
http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/results.php?hostid=271352

There is a problem someplace, try doing a Reset in the Boinc Manager in the Projects tab. Make SURE you ONLY highlight MilyWay or there could be some SERIOUS problems for you!!!! Clicking Reset there reloads all the MW app files you need for your specific pc type, they can get messed up and this fixes that.

The next problems you will run into is that since you are trashing units you will not get a full complement of files. This is a Boinc Program safeguard NOT a Project thing. As you return units again your available units will double for each valid one you return. It is a 24 hour thing, so if today you can only get 1 unit and return it as valid tomorrow you will get 2 units etc ,etc. This keeps pc's that are just bad from hogging all the units and then trashing them, forcing the Server to work extra hard, as they all need to be processed and sent back out to other pc's.

I suspect that once the actual tech folks who have performed the new server set up and change over figure out what last steps need to be done they will act on it. Then once they have done that, they will convey to the project admin folks we see online (who I am pretty sure are NOT the actual tech folks) the details.

Once that is done we probably will see things begin to work again and we may get some information regarding the process.

Until that sequence is completed, I suspect we will all be in speculation mode in the absence of information here.

Hello,
