as per the article from the last post "The basic idea behind ZeroCore Power is to effectively shut down the card during periods when the GPU isn’t outputting an onscreen image. These “long idle situations” are determined by Windows which is programmed to shut off your display after a preset amount of time (you can access it by going into the Display Power Options and choosing when Windows can turn off your display) in order to optimize full system efficiency. AMD’s driver will detect this and put the graphics card into a suspended sleep mode by shutting off the fan and powering down non-essential onboard components. It will then wake back up the moment Windows detects an input and activates the display again. " oh my, no gpu usage while Windows has shut off your display after time out. there will not be a race if that happens. but it will be twice as fast as a 6970 in the DP bench mark (page 22) so twice as fast but will turn off most of the time. |

oh my, no gpu usage while Windows has shut off your displayOne has to hope that their review is in error. The HPC crowd would deluge AMD with complaints if it were true. |

oh my, no gpu usage while Windows has shut off your display after time out. Just set windows not to turn off the display then. |

If things go right, I plan to up the PSU to 1200 W and put 1 x HD7990 in a quad core, then later (much later) add another to the same PC. Would that fly for ATI projects? Go away, I was asleep ![]() ![]() |

Anyone got one? I wonder if the current app will have to be adjusted, or if it just works. MrS Scanning for our furry friends since Jan 2002 |

I've got two on crossfire - but no work available. I 'll keep an eye open and come back to try them when work reappears. How do they benchmark on any BOINC projects vs the other AMD/ATI cards? BTW, WUs are flowing ATM... 1/10/2012 8:35:40 PM Milkyway@Home Scheduler request completed: got 16 new tasks ![]() |
